Jose Mourinho, who hopes to sign Frank Lampard this week, sees winning trophies as just part of his job as the new coach of Inter Milan.

The former Chelsea and Porto boss also aims to help stuttering Serie A rule the roost like it did in the 1980s and 90s by serving up entertaining soccer and burying the troubled recent past.

Some English fans might question whether Mourinho has the credentials to preach the virtues of champagne soccer, given that his Chelsea side were not adverse to the odd ugly win.

Nevertheless, the arrival of one of sport’s most charismatic and successful personalities has already enabled the Italian top flight to regain some of the ground lost to the Premier League and Spain’s La Liga.

If the Portuguese man makes a fraction of the big signings the media expect of him and Inter’s rivals splash out to keep up, so much the better for Serie A. A footballing renaissance could be on the cards.

Mourinho is also keen to do his bit in fighting hooliganism in Italy, speaking of the need to make “the fans more responsible and change their relationship with the police."

He didn’t give details of how he could contribute to beating a problem numerous crackdowns and anti-hooligan laws have failed to solve, but Mourinho likes a challenge. If he can meet this one, it really would be something special.

  1. So if Massimo Moratti thought that Mancio had too much of an ego to work with then how long will he give Mourinho?

This will certainly be an interesting ride...

    1. I think it may even force Moratti to shut the hell up a little longer than normal think twice about saying some things for Jose will demand problems get spoken off behind closed doors.

The soap opera that is Inter if ever stabled could be a powerhouse in Europe it sure will be interesting J...

  2. He just has to win the Champions League, forget the league, thats why he's been hired and if he doesn't suceed in 2 yrs he'll be fired!!!

    1. I think he'll have to do it all... In Milan there is a sense that this season the league will be the top priority for all and he must win that to.

Champions League as for all clubs is a roll of the dice, and in year one would be a dream for him but no question he must win the League and that will be harder than the past three years.

Juve will be real contenders this year they must buy a central mid and left back and centre back but they have the goods and the goals to win it, Roma came so close last year and will be out to win it and I think they can, and then there is AC Milan who will be concentrating hard on the League in order to get Champions League next year and Fiorentina will be there and there abouts...

The league must win and Champions League must be won in two or three but that is one hell of a task.
