Free agency frenzy is all but over now. Wild GM Doug Risebrough stated the team needed to address three main goals during FA:

    1. Strengthen defensive core

    2. Add offense and puck possession

    3. Retain young core

Of these three goals, I can only see DR achieving one of those goals....Retain our core.

If DR wanted to add offense, he should have focused on keeping Brian Rolston, who was second on the team in terms of goals and scored 30 or more goals in the past three seasons.

We did add some puck possession in returning Andrew Brunette, but we've lost a key guy who can get the puck to the back of the net. I don't know much of anything about the two defensemen the Wild signed in FA, so I won't jump to any conclusions about our "strengthening of our defensive core," but I will say that with this year's free agent frenzy was another Wild flop and has fans becoming nay-sayers and anticipating the end of our Sell-out streak at Xcel Energy Center.

I wish things would have worked out differently for our team for the upcoming season, but as I am "The Eternal Optimist" I will take what the front office has come up with and simply roll with it. As a fan, that is all we can do, yet we all seem to have more answers than the front office.

While I don't agree with what DR has done, I will still and always take pride in being a Wild fan for life.
