After 7 years of false hopes, the Oakland Raiders have a great opportunity to "return to glory". To begin with they have retained the services of Tom Cable. This was a huge plus because as I've stated before , the Oakland Raiders need stability at the management end ; and the players played hard through all games, except of course J. Russell.

Secondly, the Raiders should be successful retaining Pro Bowl CB Asomugha. Asomugha has been a pillar at his position and is a great role model for the team. Justin Fargas is another strong link in the chain. Fargas has more than proven himself to be a worthy player and should remain with the team. If the Raiders lose Fargas then Darren McFadden and Bush will need to step it up. Bush has already shown himself to be a power RB. Anyone remember Wheatley? McFadden however is waiting to explode and with a better offensive line he should eat up yards.

Defensively, the addition of Richard Seymour made a positive impact. The Raiders have been lacking in the area of pass rushing and Seymour and Ellis provide the needed collapsing of opponents QB pocket.

Now have the free agency. We all agree JaMarcus Russell needs to go. A total bust and expensive mistake. Both he and Javon Walker should be receiving pink slips soon. There are rumours that Kirk Morrison is fishing this years free agency. I dont know how true it is but I would be willing to let him go provided he is replaced with a worthy "veteran' player.

The free agency has somewhat opened doors for the Raiders and I believe the search for a QB could be resolved here. I would not mind seeing McNabb or Gradkowski in the pocket. Preferably Gradkowski ( my preference) as he has been a true leader and showed up Russell. Gradkowski is hungry, runs when he needs to and is a pleasure to watch. Gradkowski has a winning spirit and this means alot. I have considered going after Tebow, but who knows.

McNabb however brings experience and would make a great leader for the team. As for wide receivers, the Raiders are "okay" (Schilenz, Higgins and Louis) but should consider Brandon Marshall. Marshall would simply be a huge boost! Both Murphy and Schilenz should have an awesome season but we need a Gannon like QB.

I will not speculate much more but can only hope the choices made are in the interests of this team because Cable will want to save his job and with a decent team I beleive he can get 10 wins.  Go Raiders!
