On today's Yankees Spring Training game against the Blue Jays, useful backup catcher Francisco Cervelli was hit in the head by a pitch off of a Blue Jays pitcher Zinicola. It was a scary moment, as former teammate Jose Molina responded quickly to help him. After going to a local hospital, a scan of his head turned out negative. Even though he says himself, "I was a little scared at the time, but I'm OK," manager Joe Girardi isn't so sure. He said, "It's a concern, any time you start talking about injuries to the head like that. You're concerned about it. He's feeling OK now, but you worry about it. It's scary."

Cervelli expects himself to be ready in a couple of days. As far as we know, Girardi will keep things slow, and will wait for him to make a full recovery.

This wasn't the first time he was hit in the head. He was hit in the head by a player's backswing in November in a Winter League game.
