Bears Are Big Time Winners Today

Jonah PulsCorrespondent IMarch 6, 2010

Earlier today it was finalized that Julius Peppers would be heading to the Chicago Bears. He was given a six-year deal where he will make $40.5 million in guaranteed money over the first three years of his six-year deal.  He has been talked about a lot lately, with the possibility of many teams being able to pick him up.

But, the 6-foot-7, 283-pound defensive end decided that Chicago would be the place for him to go. He is a five time Pro Bowler, who had 10.5 sacks, two interceptions, and five forced fumbles this year.

He will hopefully be a key asset to the Bears defense who struggled last year, giving up 23.4 points per game. One of the main components missing from the defense was Brian Urlacher. He is getting old, and they brought in Peppers who can hopefully replace him and bring the defense swagger back to the Bears.

Along with Peppers, the Bears signed Chestor Taylor and Brandon Manumaleuna making this a very successful free agency signing period for the Chicago Bears.
