Nikolay Davydenko Ruled Out of Davis Cup

Aaron KumarSenior Writer IMarch 5, 2010

Nikolay Davydenko has been ruled out of Russia’s 1st round World Group match against India due to injury. Russia will be the favorites to beat India even without Davydenko but the hosts would have still loved to have had the world number 6 in their ranks. Davydenko found some superb form at the end of 2009 as he won the ATP World Tour Finals which were held at the O2 Arena in London. On the way to the title, Davydenko earned victories over Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and be backed this up by beating the US Open Champion Juan Martin Del Potro in the final. Nikolay Davydenko carried that form into 2010 when he defeated Nadal and Federer once again on his way to winning the ATP Title in Doha. Davydenko then went to the Australian Open as one of the favourites to win the title but he lost to the eventual champion Federer in 4 sets in the Quarter Finals.
