Brittney Griner's Punch Heard 'Round Women's Hoops got us thinking about some of the more recent cat fights in women's sports. Who knows what drives these women to such actions, but every so often we get the pleasure of watching women duke it out on SportsCenter, YouTube, or anywhere else. Sometimes these fights are one-sided, sometimes they go nowhere, but for some reason we can't turn away.

Baylor freshman Brittney Griner got pushed once and she wasn't going to take it a second time. Provoked by Barncastle's shove, Griner turned around and popped her Texas Tech opponent square in the mouth and nose. Stay classy ladies.

New Mexico Soccer Gets Put On The Map

Apparently Elizabeth Lambert of the University of New Mexico women's soccer team forget that one isn't suppose to use her hands in the sport. Well Lambert did in a whole new way, abusing BYU opponents and turning the Mountain West Conference matchup into her own street fight. Kicking, tripping, and hair pulling made it a classic catfight.

Danica Patrick v. Milka Duno

Danica Patrick wants to race with the men, but she went picking on fellow female racer Milka Duno in a moment caught on tape that may have done more for Patrick's career than her driving. Four things make this video great:

1) Two hot women arguing

2) Duno's sexy accent

3) The towel in the face

4) The frustrated wave of the hand.

Serena Williams v. The Line Judge

At this year's U.S. Open, we learned what can happen if you cross Serena Williams. A virtually helpless line judge did her job and twice called Serena for a foot fault in the match's final game.

Serena responded with a verbal tirade that included an offer of a tennis ball buffet for the line judge.

Lindsey Vonn v. Julia Mancuso

Near the end of the 2010 Olympics, a simmering rivalry between Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso hit the airwaves. Mancuso, embittered by the media coverage of teammate LIndsey Vonn, took a shot across the bow which resulted in Vonn attempting to take the high road.

“Our team is struggling, as a group,” says Mancuso to Sports Illustrated. “People are having a hard time reaching their potential because it’s such a struggle for attention. You come to meetings after races and it’s like it’s a bad day if Lindsey didn’t do well.”

Vonn's responded, “I try to support Julia as much as I support all the other teammates. I have been racing with Julia since I was a little kid and yes we are competitors, but I always support her and it has definitely hurt me that she has said some negative things about me. All I can do is continue to support her like I always have done and hope that she reciprocates that.”

Candace Parker v. the Detroit Shock

It was the same scene as Ron Artest's explosion and fight in the stands. In July 2008, Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie of the Los Angeles Sparks duked it out with the Detroit Shock. Parker was suspended for throwing a punch during a fight in which numerous bodies hit the floor. On top of that, Detroit assistant coach Rick Mahorn was busted for causing Lisa Leslie to hit the hardwood.
