NHL, NHL Atlantic, Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced the signing of former Devil Arron Asham to a multi-year deal. The 30-year-old winger is one of the more pesky wingers in the league. Over his 498 game career, he has accumulated 537 penalty minutes and 135 points. Last year with New Jersey, he had 6 goals, 10 points and 84 PIMs.

Asham's style of play will make him an instant fan favorite. "I think it's great," said Asham. "I've always wanted to play with the Flyers. I think their style of game suits my game to a 'T'. It's definitely going to be exciting to come here and wear the orange and black."

This is a good move by the Flyers. A guy like Riley Cote is not needed every game. Asham can take a regular shift if the situation called for it. Where as a player like Cote may only see 5 minutes in a entire game. The Flyers also don't lose a physical presence when he his out there.

Asham will drop the gloves just as fast as Cote will. Just don't expect to see any epic Asham/Laraque battles.

  1. Great signing by the Flyers.

  2. I think this is a good one, but I'm still just so-so on it.

  3. Great signing because now there is one less player this season to knock their guys out.
