If Pat Burrell does not get elected as the 32nd member of the National League All-Star team, it’s a mockery; even more than it already is. He has a .279 avg. with 21 HR and 53 RBI.
Fans screw up the All-Star game, simple as that. Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome have no business in the All-Star game. Both of them have been voted in as a result of B.S. popularity.
Soriano has been to seven straight All-Star games, so I understand he has proved himself worthy of being an All-Star, but not this year. His strikeout to walk ratio is higher than Ricky Williams (over 3-to-1), and he has not played since June 11, as a result of a broken hand.
But he’s okay to play in the All-Star game? Weak.
And Kosuke Fukudome the Great. Before I ask why this man is a starter, let’s start off by asking why he is even on the team?! Seven home runs. That’s one more than the amount of fingers Antonio Alfonseca has on his right hand.
35 RBI, I don’t need to comment there, I’ll let you laugh at that on your own. Fukudome is the beneficiary of the wave of fans that jump on his bandwagon, just as they did with Ichiro (that’s not meant to insult Ichiro). Yao Ming got the same treatment from the Chinese when he was a rookie in the NBA…All-Star starter. Fraudulent.
Matt Holliday has a terrific batting average. His home runs are down, as well as his RBI.
Nate McLouth is having a great year .278 batting average, 15 home runs, 53 runs batted in; Burrell’s numbers are better.
Ryan Braun and Pat Burrell’s numbers are virtually identical, except Burrell’s on base percentage (.421) is over a hundred points better than Braun’s (.319), and Braun is a starter.
The starting outfield should be Burrell, Braun and Ryan Ludwick
Burrell would also make a nice candidate for the home run derby as well...
...I'm a Phillies fan, what else do you expect?
