Let's face it. John Wall, as talented as he may be, has not performed to expectations this season. We have seen him in point guard match up battles, we have seen him step off the stage for the opposing team's point guard to take over (South Carolina's Devan Downey), we have seen him make mistakes while handling the ball, but we have not seen him perform to his full potential like most fans thought he would.
Coming into the season, John Wall was instantly a star at Kentucky, as well as throughout the nation. His unbelievable Youtube highlight videos and recruitment by new coach John Calipari created headlines across the country that brought attention to himself.
As the Kentucky Wildcats enter their final regular season game, I look at John Wall's stats and nothing impresses me. He is putting up averages of 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. Solid.
However, are these numbers really what we expected from him at the beginning of the year? Forget the numbers for a second. Can you think of a single performance this year where you're expectations were met? I don't think so and for this reason I present to you the five freshman this year who have outperformed Kentucky's star frosh point guard.
