Former World Number 1 Svetlana Kuznetsova won the 1st Grand Slam title of her career in 2004 when she defeated her compatriot Elena Dementieva in the final of the US Open. However since then the Russian has struggle to make an impact and she appeared set to become a one Slam wonder. Kuznetsova did manage to reach the final of the French Open in 2006 but she was well beaten in the championship match but the tournament favourite and top seed Justin Henin. However last year against the odds Svetlana Kuznetsova managed to reach the final of the French Open once again where she would face her compatriot Dinara Safina. On that occasion Kuznetsova proved to be far too strong to Safina as she earned herself a straight sets victory and with it the 2nd Grand Slam title of her career. Svetlana Kuznetsova will be looking to build on that performance and add to her Grand Slam tally in 2010.
