Earlier today, BJ Penn was featured on CNN providing footage to the popular news organization regarding the tsunami warning sent out to residents of Hawaii.

The tsunami warning came on the heels of an 8.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country of Chile, killing hundreds of people, destroying buildings, and even flipping over cars on the street.

The quake was followed by some 40 or so aftershocks that had their own kick to them as some were measured to be greater than 6.0 on the Richter Scale. became the source for media coverage of Hilo Bay, which strikes many as a random method to collect news and information, but hey, they got the job done.

This action by BJ Penn goes to show that mixed martial artists care more for the world than what critics of the sport have claimed. Not all fighters concentrate on beating their opponents to a bloody pulp. Most have families they take care of and look out for.

Today, Penn’s family was threatened, but luckily no one was directly affected by tsunami damage.
