The first day of the NFL combine was today and the offensive linemen were stunning to watch. The lineman were fast, strong, and seemed better than any other linemen group ever before. Some players that scouts thought would do good and didn't reach up to expectations and some players did how well scouts thought they would do. My new mock is updated from the last one I did a while back because rumors have been in the air about the Chiefs signing big name players in free agency. Enjoy my new mock!
Eric Berry is becoming more and more the likely pick here with the first four picks looking to be defensive tackles and quarterbacks, the Chiefs will snag Berry if he is available. Even Chiefs players want this to be the pick Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers even worked out with Eric Berry a few days ago. Berry is the ultimate play maker and would ultimately turn around the Chiefs defense.
After a shaky combine Mike Iupati could potentially land this late in the draft Iupati is what people are calling the most versatile player in the draft he can play guard and tackle. Iupati would be an automatic starter at right guard for the Chiefs and is a brick wall in pass protection. Iupati didn't allow one single sack in his senior campaign which means less sacks for Matt Cassel.
Every one is stating that Terrence Cody cannot excel in the NFL. I think he will. Cody even proved he is ready for the NFL and wants to start by shedding 16 pounds before the combine. At now 354 pounds and standing 6'5 Cody seems to have NFL nose tackle size. Also it would be beneficial because he would attract fans, Chiefs fans would dig this guy!
Jordan Shipley would be a huge addition and potentially the NFL draft's biggest steal. The Chiefs lack the slot receiver position more than any other skill player position on the team. This will be a very tempting decision to make with receiver lover coach Todd Haley.
Another player like Mike Iupati who didn't have a stellar combine. Aaron Hernandez is capable of falling this late in the draft with a team like the Chiefs who need a few offensive weapons. if Hernandez is available why not take him this late?
Drafting Kerry Meier would be a smart decision because he fills two positions. He can be a good reserve quarterback and is an outstanding receiver. Despite Meier having huge numbers, he will fall this late just because scouts don't think he's good. Meier would start if Chambers or Bowe got hurt.
Brandon Carter would easily be the scariest player outside of Ray Lewis in the NFL not just because of his scary face paint, but by bulldozing whatever is in his way. Carter, like Terrence Cody would be a fan favorite, and he would even start if the Chiefs don't get Mike Iupati or if Brian Waters moves to center.
If the Chiefs don't pick up Darren Sproles in free agency this would be a likely pick to end the draft. Holliday has blazing speed running a 4.3 forty at the combine and would fill the Chiefs returning woes since Dante Hall immediately.
