This article will show top five teams that could hold the trophy in the final round of Champions League.
No. 5: Bordeaux
This team had a great season, starting from finishing first place in the group stage and ending with a recent win over Olympiakos.
Bordeaux was an obvious leader in the Group A, competing vs. teams like Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Maccabi Haifa. They didn't lose any of their games and tied only ones when they played Juventus. Bordeaux completed their group stage with 16 points (six points above the second place finisher). In addition, in a 2010 UEFA Champions League poll at http://www.fifa.com, Bordeaux FC was selected the team with the best chance of winning 2010's UEFA Champions League.
The French team is known for their quick style of play and organization. Bordeaux is capable of beating top flight teams that are more rated then they are. They proved that by beating Bayern Munich and Juventus in Group A.
No. 4: Internazionale
Inter finished first in the last year 2008-09 Serie A. They have won two Champions League's and three UEFA Cup's. Internazionale were the winners of Serie A 17 times, they dominated the Italian tournament by having a four-year winning streak, starting with 2005-06 season. This team seems unstoppable in any tournament that they play in.
The players in Inter are capable of destroying their opponents without leaving any chance of compromise. The team is considered one of the most successful clubs in Italy and reached the tops in Europe. Internazionale will be one of the favorites for keeping the trophy after Champions League ends.
No. 3: Real Madrid
Real Madrid is the most successful team in Spanish football and was voted by FIFA as the most successful club of the 20th century, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, seventeen Spanish Cups, a record nine European Cups, and two UEFA Cups.
Real Madrid's defense has been slacking for the past season, but the team's attack is one of the best in the world. Christiano Ronaldo has scored the most goals in Champions League (he scored six goals in five appearances), and for right now, the team is playing "outscore your opponent" style.
Real Madrid had finished Group C in first place, beating Milan, Marseille, and Zurich.
Recently, Real Madrid lost to Lyon 1-0 in the first knockout round. This defeat lowered the chances of stepping into the quarterfinals, but even with Real's lost, they still have a big chance of breaking through 1/8 round.
No. 2: Manchester United
Manchester United are the reigning English champions, having won the 2008–09 Premier League. The club is one of the most successful in the history of English football and has won 22 major honours since Alex Ferguson became manager in November 1986.
Man U have finished first in their group, with CSKA dragging behind them. They collected 13 points, one loss, one draw and four wins. In the begging of the Champions League season, Manchester suffered a huge defense gap. ;Almost all of the defenders that started for the team were injured, this crisis lead to unexpectable 3-3 draw against CSKA.
In the 1/8 round, Manchester United faced Milan. The first game ended with Manchester United winning 3-2. One of the club's leaders is Wayne Rooney who has been a prolific scorer throughout Champions League and English Premier; he will be one of the Man U's weapons to make their way to the final round.
No. 1: Barcelona
Barcelona is one of the most successful clubs in European football, having won 14 official major trophies in total, including ten UEFA competitions. They have won three UEFA Champions League titles, a record four UEFA Cup Winners' Cups, a record three Inter-Cities Fairs Cups (the forerunner to the UEFA Europa League), three UEFA Super Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Barcelona completed their group in first place, competing with teams like Internazionale, Rubin, and Dynamo Kyiv. Group F was one of the hardest groups in Champion League. During the group stage, Barca faced an astonishing defeat from Rubin that overpowered them 2-1. But even with the defeat, Barcelona ripped off the first place.
Recently, the team tied with Stuttgart 1-1. Even with a tie, Barca is still considered as a finalist in Champions League.
