Mike Lowell took ground balls again at first base on Saturday -- a rainy one in Fort Myers, Fla. -- as the Red Sox management see how he fairs in a different role this season.

Seeing the ball on a different angle is key for moving from third to first base, which Lowell will probably have to do this season, manager Terry Francona said.

Adrian Beltre took live batting practice and hit in the cage on Saturday. Boston's relief staff was on the mound.

Sunday is photo day at Fenway South -- they'll take the pics for baseball cards and other promotional team material.

Francona announced the pitching rotation for the first exhibition and Grapefruit League games. It includes newcomer John Lackey pitching March 6 against the Minnesota Twins.
