Sources confirm that the New York Rangers are one of two teams considering making a run at Los Angeles Kings restricted free agent forward Patrick O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan, 23, has yet to be offered a deal by the Kings and hasn't filed for arbitration.  He had a breakout season in 2007 netting 22 goals and adding 31 assists.

If the Rangers do sign O'Sullivan to an offer sheet it's difficult to imagine the Kings not matching.  Los Angeles has the lowest payroll in the NHL and has plenty of money under the cap.

General Manager Dean Lombardi told the Los Angeles Times last week that he intends to match any offers.

O'Sullivan is also believed to have received interest from the Montreal Canadiens.

  1. Because we have the room for another center or another large contract?

  2. Just a report. Doesn't seem to matter as the Kings claim they'll match any offer.

  3. Possible trade, i dont think there will be an offer sheet.

  4. O'Sullivan would be a good guy to have but the Rangers would probably have to give up assets they won't want to.

  5. We don't need him...

  6. O'Sullivan is filthy. He would be a great asset to the Rangers lineup and could easily play wing with Gomez or Drury. I think they should definatly sign him because money ain't a problem here in New York and he will only make the team better.

  7. doesn't matter...kings have the largest cap room in the nhl because they created cap space after trading cammy, visnovsky and not resigning Rob Blake (i hated the cammy deal). The Rangers wont be willing to offer sully the amount of money where Lombardi will refuse to match it. Hes a RFA not a UFA
