Lately, I have been extremely pleased with WWE's product, particularly the Smackdown brand. There have been plenty of fresh faces and feuds to keep things interesting.
There is one thing that disappoints me, though. The upcoming WWE Championship match pits the company's No. 1 babyface against its heel—the babyface being Triple H, and Edge the latter. Both have been on tremendous rolls lately.
Triple H just scored the best victory he has had in quite some time, finally avenging his Wrestlemania XXII loss to John Cena at Night of Champions.
Edge, on the other hand, just came off two important victories against The Undertaker and Batista. Although Edge lost his World Heavyweight Championship just last Monday, he retained something almost as valuable that night: his heat.
Adam "Edge" Copeland's current Smackdown stint is similar to Triple H's first main event heel run way back in late 1999 and throughout 2000. Edge, much like Triple H back then, is the measuring stick for heels. He doesn't care if fans love or hate him. Like Hunter, Edge has taken out a top superstar.
Back in 2000, Triple H retired Mick Foley at No Way Out. Fast forward to 2008 and you have Edge with a tremendous amount of heat after defeating The Undertaker in a career-threatening match at One Night Stand.
Edge claims to be the ultimate opportunist, as displayed in all four world title victories the man has to his name. Triple H is no slouch either. Whether it required help from Stephanie, Shane O'Mac, Vince, Degeneration X, Evolution, or his trusty sledgehammer, Hunter would do anything and everything to stay on top.
See the similarities? I could go on and on about the similar hair styles, heights, and more, but then I'd be rambling. The point I'm trying to make is in the headline. Edge in 2008 is much like Triple H in 2000. He is on a serious roll as the company's top heel and should be built up as a HUGE threat to Hunter's WWE Championship.
Instead, Smackdown ends this past Friday with Edge seemingly dumping the ever so annoying Vickie Guerrero. Perhaps this is a good thing. It could prompt Vickie to bring back The Undertaker which, in my opinion, would be way too soon.
Plus, the Great American Bash is in a couple of weeks, and WWE should be worrying about the marquee match of that event instead of a called off wedding that won't sell tickets. You know, the match that includes the company's top babyface and heel.
I know there's only been one show since this match was announced, but I think WWE should have had Triple H and Edge interact with each other more. That way they could methodically build to an exciting match between the top two stars of Smackdown.
No disrespect to the Great American Bash, but Summerslam is the money maker this time of year.
No matter what, I believe Triple H vs. Edge at the Great American Bash will be a great match in terms of ring work and psychology. I just wish WWE had more time to hype it and a greater stage to showcase this great encounter.

I say this feud won't end at the G.A.B. This will be hot for the rest of the Summer, and will probably be the main event at Summerslam.
I can see some "controversial" ending at G.A.B, fueling the feud.

I get what you're saying. I believe that too. I just think the 1st pay per view singles match with these guys should be special and hyped up to the max. Especially at a big stage like Summerslam.

I agree that they rushed into this but I think this will go until the end of the summer, leading to the return of the Undertaker.

Ive been saying since the draft, don't be surprised if we see Taker move to RAW.
He could be the one "responsible" for Vince's accident

While I don't see it happening, I also said Triple H would never move from Raw (with good reasons, mind you). Again, I'd be extremely surprised if that happened.

You need time to build to the blow-off at Summerslam to make the feud seem more worthwhile; this won't be over at GAB unless they are really rushing things and have something else lined up for Summerslam.
After all, what's Hunter's next programme after Edge? Unless he's turning heel to face Undertaker (unlikely given 'Taker's fan reactions these days) you need to draw this one out, because there isn't much depth to the heel roster. The next candidates would seem to be the redacted Khali, Umaga, MVP or Ken Kennedy, and I can't see that drawing too much!
The only other option I can see at the top of the card is Big Show...

I think that they should just move Edge completely out of wrestling all together, all he does is wine and cry about everything. I like HHH, but don't you think it's time for somebody else, it's always the same ones, Cena,Kane,HHH,Edge,Taker, and Batista. It's getting old. Give us something new.
