The New York Jets can go in many different directions in the upcoming NFL Draft. These are the three scenarios that I would most like to see as a Jets fan.

The Jets needs for next season are the following:

Big needs:
-Shut down CB opposite of Darrelle Revis
-Pass rushing OLB

Pretty big needs:
-3-4 DE
-Slot WR

Average needs:
-Depth at OT/OG
-Depth at ILB
-P

Could use, but not a need:
-FB
-Backup QB
-Safety

Let me know which scenario you like the best in the comment section.

Scenario One

95813888

Round 1: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State

Wilson fits the Jets system perfectly. He's a shut down, man to man corner. He's very physical at the line of scrimmage, and would be a perfect compliment to Darrelle Revis.

Round 2: Austen Lane, OLB, Murray State

Lane has been overlooked by a lot of people due to playing at Murray State, but he is one of the best pass rushers in this draft. He'd fit in great in a Rex Ryan system and could play right away.

Round 5: Robert Johnson, FS, Utah

Robert Johnson is almost an exact clone of Kerry Rhodes. With the rumors of Rhodes being gone, Johnson makes a lot of sense. They still have Eric Smith and James Ihedigbo, so Johnson would be able to learn behind them for a year or two.

Round 6: Zoltan Mesko, P, Michigan

The Jets badly need a punter. Mesko is the best punter in the draft. This could help out the Jets special teams a lot, and give them much better field position than a year ago.

Round 7: Chris Carter, WR, Cal Davis

If Carter falls to the Jets pick, he would be a steal. He fits a slot receiver perfectly and can really help out Sanchez and the Jets offense in the future.

Scenario Two

93109505

Round 1: Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU

Hughes reminds me a lot of Colts DE, Dwight Freeney. Some people say he's undersized, but weighing in at 255 at the Combine says otherwise. Hughes is one of the best pure pass rushers in the NFL draft and could be a big impact player for years to come.

Round 2: Lamarr Houston, DE, Texas

Houston is a perfect fit as a 3-4 DE. With Ellis and Douglas both getting older, the Jets need to start thinking about future replacements. It also helps to add depth, as the only really solid backup is Mike DeVito.

Round 5: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB, IUP

If Owusu-Anash falls to the 5th round, it would be a big steal. He's another CB who fits the Jets perfectly. He's a very physical corner who is great at man to man coverage.

Round 6: Derek Hardman, OT, Eastern Kentucky

The Jets could use some depth on the offensive line with Damien Woody and Alan Faneca getting older. They also like to use six linemen packages on offense, so more depth could never hurt. Hardman is a versatile lineman who could play either guard or tackle.

Round 7: O’Brien Schofield, OLB, Wisconsin

Schofield is a very talented pass rusher. One of the best pass rushers in the draft. The thing keeping him back is that he tore his ACL in the Senior Bowl practices and will miss his rookie year. He still might be worth the wait as a no risk, very high reward player.

Scenario Three

82883996

Scenario three is a bit different.

It starts out with the Jets signing former Patriot and Raven, Adalius Thomas. Thomas has been a big disappointment with New England, but was a dominating force under Rex Ryan in Baltimore.

If Thomas gets released like he is likely to do, a one year deal would make a lot of sense.

After getting Thomas to fill a pass rush need, trade a 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick for a proven cornerback.

Some examples of proven cornerbacks are Domonique Foxworth (Ravens), Josh Wilson (Seahawks), Phillip Buchannon (Lions), and others.

We could also add someone like Thomas Jones to the trade. While it might get rejected, it's at least worth a shot to try and go after it.

After those moves, we would be left with a 1st, 6th, and 7th round pick.

Round 1: Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas State

I love Alex Carrington. It might be a bit of a reach here, but he is a very good player. He'd be a great fit as a 3-4 DE and could start right away.

Then the 6th or 7th round picks use one of the other scenarios.
