Here is a recap of Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 5 of the 2008 College Football season:

1. Florida Gators 4-0

2. Kansas Jayhawks 4-0

3. USC Trojans 3-0

4. Missouri Tigers 4-0

5. West Virginia Mountaineers 4-0

6. Georgia Bulldogs 4-1

7. Oklahoma Sooners 4-0

8. Texas Longhorns 4-0

9. Clemson Tigers 5-0

10. Utah Utes 5-0

Now, it's time to move on to Week 6 of the 2008 College Football season.

Key Games in Week 6:

Ohio State (4-1) @ Wisconsin (4-0)

This Big Ten showdown features two teams, each ranked in the Top 15... as the #13 Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Madison, to take on the #12 Wisconsin Badgers.

The Wisconsin Badgers head into this game with a lot of momentum, and an UNDEFEATED record. In addition, the Badgers are coming off a huge road win, in Ann Arbor, against the Michigan Wolverines, in Week Five.

On the other hand, the Ohio State Buckeyes head into this game with a 2-game winning streak... AFTER failing their first road test of the season, by losing at USC.

However, in the end, the winner of this prime-time showdown at Camp Randall will have the early advantage, in the Big Ten race. Unfortuately, I just cannot see Ohio State losing TWO games THIS EARLY in the season.

Winner: Ohio State

Kansas (4-0) @ Iowa State (2-2)

The #2 Kansas Jayhawks travel to Ames, in Week 6... as the Jayhawks face the Iowa State Cyclones, their first in-Conference foe this season.

On November 17th last season, the Kansas Jayhawks CRUSHED the Iowa State Cyclones 45-7... AT HOME, on SENIOR DAY, to improve to 11-0. In addition, Todd Reesing had a Heisman-like performance that day!

Well, I expect Todd Reesing to have another Heisman-like performance in Week 6... as the Kansas Jayhawks defeat the Iowa State Cyclones for the fourth year in a row, and improve to 5-0 on the season.

Winner: Kansas

Hawaii (0-4) @ Fresno State (1-3)

At this point of the season, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Fresno State Bulldogs have been the disappointments in the WAC.

The Fresno State Bulldogs had high hopes, heading into the 2008 College Football season. In fact, the Bulldogs had their sights set on a possible BCS Bowl berth. However, three losses in the non-Conference part of their schedule (albeit against decent competition - @ Rutgers, Wisconsin, and @ UCLA)... erased any hopes for a BCS Bowl berth, for the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Fortunately, the Fresno State Bulldogs can still salvage their season. In fact, the Bulldogs can still compete for the WAC Title.

On the other hand, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are struggling in the season after earning a berth in the Sugar Bowl. In fact, the Rainbow Warriors are still WINLESS this season.

Look for the Rainbow Warriors to continue their struggles this season... as the Fresno State Bulldogs hold serve at home, and earn a huge victory that can potentially turn their season around.

Winner: Fresno State

Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 6 of the 2008 College Football season:

1. Florida 5-0 (defeated @ Arkansas)

2. Kansas 5-0 (defeated @ Iowa State)

3. USC 4-0 (defeated Oregon)

4. Missouri 5-0 (defeated @ Nebraska)

5. West Virginia 5-0 (defeated Rutgers)

6. Oklahoma 5-0 (defeated @ Baylor)

7. Texas 5-0 (defeated @ Colorado)

8. Georgia 4-1 (bye week)

9. Utah 6-0 (defeated Oregon State)

10. Clemson 5-0 (bye week)

Stay tuned! Part 7 of Jimson's 2008 College Football Series will be released on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 :)

  1. Jimson-

I have the Bulldogs with maybe one loss to Wisconsin, but no way losing to UCLA. Da Bruins have no QB, two new coaches and lost 25 seniors. I saw them at Spring practice...the O-line is very weak. Like a sieve. With QB Cowan out for the year and Olson recovering from a broken foot, they need another back-up because they will lose a QB due to the pass rush. It happened last year, and it will happen this year.

Their secondary, except for Alterraun, is very inexperienced. Everybody will be passing on them. Everybody. They lost so many players, I can't even figure out who their starting RB is.

I talked to Chow and Neuheisel, and they share that concern. This is a total rebuilding year- if they win five games, it will be Nirvana. But that's reaching with five games. They simply have too many green players who need to bulk up and learn Chow's complicated offense.

    Next year looks promising! :)

Actually, the Bruins still have a QB... because senior QB Ben Olson SHOULD be back in time, to start this season :)

  2. They do have Olson...but he got hurt a lot last year due to the O-line, and I can't see him having a lot of success this year behind that O-Line. I think he'll get hurt again...has he had one healthy season there? It's brutal playing QB there...I feel bad for the QBs. Their back-ups are not up to the task if Olson gets hurt...it could get ugly. No experience.

I agree! This season could get very ugly, in a hurry... for UCLA, IF Olson gets hurt :)

P.S. - Could you please use your POTD vote for this article, tomorrow... I feel that I am WAY OVERDUE for one :)

  3. Maybe some bias here with KU being #2 in the country and having a key game with Iowa State???

    1. Actually, I am NOT trying to be biased, AT ALL... In fact, I CAN JUSTIFY ranking MY Kansas Jayhawks #2 in the country, at this point in the season:

In 2000, the Alabama Crimson Tide was ranked #3 in the preseason polls. However, Alabama finished the 2000 season, with a 3-8 record. In fact, Andrew Zow threw 6 TD's and 19 INT's... during the 2000 College Football season :)

In my opinion, I TRULY BELIEVE that the 2008 Kansas Jayhawks Football team is a BETTER FOOTBALL TEAM... than the 2000 Alabama Crimson Tide Football team. That is why I ranked MY Kansas Jayhawks as MY preseason #3 :)

    2. Just maybe. In case you haven't noticed, Jimson is the most bias writer on this site easy. He doesn't even try and be objective. That's why in my opinion, when you are that bias, you lose credibility.

    3. "Just maybe. In case you haven't noticed, Jimson is the most bias writer on this site easy. He doesn't even try and be objective. That's why in my opinion, when you are that bias, you lose credibility."

      What are you talking about???

I am NOT trying to be biased, AT ALL... In fact, I am trying my best, to be AS OBJECTIVE AS POSSIBLE :)

  4. Hawaii 0-4......that means you have them losing to Weber State?! And I think its just been the Warriors not Rainbow Warriors for like 10 years now.....do your homework Jimson!

    1. "Hawaii 0-4......that means you have them losing to Weber State?! And I think its just been the Warriors not Rainbow Warriors for like 10 years now.....do your homework Jimson!"

Actually, I have been doing my homework!
And yes, I have Hawaii losing to Weber State, lol :)

  5. No you haven't, if you had you would know that Weber State is the easiest FCS team Hawaii could have picked.

Weber State will come into this game only have played the R&S offense once last season. In that game(which I was at) they played against Portland State, who was starting their 4th string QB, a HS kid who had never played a college down in his life. Should be an easy task right? Nope!!!!! The kid threw for 9 TD passes and over 450 passing yards to score 67 points on Weber State.

Also Weber State's former RB coach Alex Gerke is now the RB coach for Hawaii, our defense which will be the best in school history will have him to dissect everything WSU can do, which isn;t much to begin with.

Many folks, like you, look at only what Hawaii lost, which was a lot I'll give you, but that doesn't mean we won't field talent. Hawaii will be playing many gifted athletes, get to know names like Greg Alexander, Leon Wright-Jackson, Dustin Blount, Jovonte Taylor, and much more. The offense is only missing experience, but talent wise they will be just as good as last season.

On defense we return leaders like Adam Leonard, Solomon Eliminian, Ryan Mouton, and more, while we also break in top transfers like Jameel Dowling(Used to start at DB for Oregon) and Mana Silva. Please actually do some research, look up these athletes and see what Hawaii has coming back on the field and on the sideline(coaches)

Thank you Jimson Cuenta for proving that you ave absolutely no clue what you are talking about, have a good day.

Uh, know what you are talking about first... BEFORE you made this comment, did you READ Part 2 of my series, which can be found here:

      http://bleacherreport.com/articles/32190-jimson-cuentas-2008-college-football-series-part-2

      Weber State (1-0) @ Hawaii (0-1)

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will be coming into this game fresh off a ten touchdown drubbing at the hands of the Florida Gators, while Weber State comes off nine days of rest and a nice win over Montana Western.

Last season the Rainbow Warriors, with Heisman finalist Colt Brennan, needed overtime to win over Louisiana Tech in week two.

      "Sept. 8: No. 20 Hawaii 45, Louisiana Tech 44

Hawaii had many close calls on its slate in 2007, but none was closer than its game in Ruston. Hawaii needed overtime to defeat head coach Derek Dooley’s upstart Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

In a decision reminiscent of Boise State’s in the Fiesta Bowl, Tech decided to go for two in the first overtime, figuring it would be next to impossible to keep Colt Brennan from scoring again. The conversion pass was deflected and the Warriors escaped.

It turned out to be the first of two trips to Louisiana for Hawaii. The Warriors became the second WAC team to break into the BCS but collected its first loss at the hands of Georgia, the team once coached by Derek’s father."

Now that Hawaii is without Brennan, I am wondering if Hawaii can even get to overtime in this season's week two. In addition, Hawaii lost their top three wide receivers and best offensive lineman.

Either way, I see Weber State using the nine days of rest to their advantage, making it factor into the outcome of this game, as Weber State will beat Hawaii.

The post-Colt Brennan era has gotten off to a very bad start as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors fall to 0-2 on the 2008 season. Weber State will improve to 2-0, as things could get very ugly in a hurry for Hawaii!

      Winner: Weber State

  6. your telling me that my warriors are losing to WEBSTER ST........................Please what r u on

    1. "your telling me that my warriors are losing to WEBSTER ST........................Please what r u on"

      What are you talking about???

In my opinion, the 2007 Hawaii Warriors showed TERRIBLE CHARACTER. Just look at this:

      "SEPTEMBER 8: No.

The conversion pass was deflected and the Warriors escaped."

This ONLY PROVES to me that the 2007 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors had a VERY BAD ATTITUDE :)

By the way, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors DEFINITELY going to be REBUILDING, during the 2008 College Football season :)

In fact, I PREDICT that the 2008 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will finish the season with a 1-12 record... In fact, I believe that the 2008 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will start the season 0-10 :)

Oh, by the way, I WILL STAY UP PAST MIDNIGHT [I live in the Eastern Time Zone - Lumberton, New Jersey]... because that September 7th will be my friend Krista's 17th birthday. Heck, after I wish her a happy birthday, at midnight... I will turn on my TV, and be just in time for the 12:05 AM kickoff of the Weber State @ Hawaii game :)

Anyways, I HAVE ALREADY PLANNED A HUGE PARTY/PARADE, in Lumberton, New Jersey, on SEPTEMBER 7th... because I am VERY CONFIDENT that Weber State WILL BEAT Hawaii :)

  7. The key to Fresno's season is getting past Rutgers in the season opener. If they can do that (and they're very capable of doing this) then they come home to face a top 15 team in Wisconsin -- at home! Absolute craziness is what the Bagers will be treted to. Chalk it up as a win for the 'Dogs and the begining of a 4 game losing streak for WU (@ Mich. /Ohio St. /Penn. St. /@ Iowa) Then a trap game at Toledo that Fresno will hopefully stay focused enough to win.

At this point of the season, Fresno is 3-0 and on it's way down to the Rose Bowl to play and annihilate an in-state foe in UCLA. 5-0 after winning at home against Hawai'i.

    My prediction: 5-0 & ranked between 9 & 11.

    1. Sorry guys, but Fresno State has pretty much no chance! I think that the closest thing to a BCS buster, this season... is the Utah Utes. If Utah beats Michigan at their season opener... look for the Utes to run the table :)

Last season, the Utah Utes had injuries to its best qb, best running back, best reciever, and best offensive lineman, as well as other players... and Utah still beat UCLA 44-6. In addition, the Utes made it to a bowl game :)

The Utah Utes just simply played inconsistent, last season. However, if the Utes stay healthy this season, and play motivated... then even the Michigan Wolverines have little chance :)

In fact, I truly believe that Utah is a seriously underrated program, and that most people seem to have forgotten that the Utes were the origional BCS busters... and that they easily blew out the Pitt Panthers in the Fiesta Bowl, 4 years ago :)

Since the 2004 College Football season, however... the Utah Utes have struggled through injuries and inconsistent play with a young and sometimes questionable head coach. This season, Brian Johnson will play fully healthy for the first time since he was third in the nation in total offense, in 2005 :)

Along with pretty good recruitments, the Utah Utes look to me like the best non-BCS team in the nation. In fact, Utah was ranked 14th by Phil Steele in his preseason poll [and also in MY preseason poll]... with Fresno not even being ranked. Phil Steele is usually pretty close with his rankings year to year. The Utah Utes are looking pretty good this season :)

  8. Obviously you HAVEN'T been doing your homework as you still refer to them as the RAINBOW Warriors.....if you want to be known as a respectable writer at least get a simple thing like a name correct. I know its only your prediction but Hawaii losing to Weber State is damn near impossible......and im not even a Hawaii fan!

    DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

    1. What are you talking about???

I have been doing my homework... I ALREADY KNOW that they now, just called the Warriors. However, I like to refer to them by their former name, the RAINBOW Warriors :)

  9. By the way, Hawaii winning in a nail biter in Ruston showed you that they "had a very bad attitude?"..................wtf?

    1. But don't you think that SEPTEMBER 8th is WAY TOO EARLY in the season to need OT to beat La Tech???

  10. Jimson, in all seriousness...what is that giant black thing blocking the sun in your picture? : )

    1. What are you talking about???

  11. Hawaii losing to Weber St. at home???? Whatever At the Veri least Hawaii will be competitive with the Gators, No Blow out here, It will be 14-7 Gators at Halftime, and the final will be like 35 to 28 But no blow out. Hawaii has Wright-Jackson who will most likely be the full time back, and with shifti Pilares at slot and a bit more balanced passing attack Hawaii WILL NOT LOSE TO WEBER, thats just unreal, Dont forget veteran linebackers and one of the best DB in the conference with mouton and now that I think about it Hawaii is the one dangerous team that could upset the Gators.

I do NOT really know what you are talking about... because the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are going to be WITHOUT Heisman Finalist, Colt Brennan, THIS SEASON :)

In addition, you are DELUSIONAL... IF you think that Hawaii will even be competitive with the Florida Gators, lolz :)
