Many top-flight European clubs are in the hunt for world-class players in the summer transfer window in order to help in building a squad capable of reaching the planned objectives of the clubs' boards.
The likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona, Roma, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are being linked with major coups in the summer transfer season.
The Euros surely gave some players' values a huge boost in the transfer market. The values of Andrei Arshavin, David Villa, Lukas Podolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger, David Silva, Rafael Van der Vaart, Joao Moutinho, Turan Arda, Fernando Torres and Marcos Senna have at least doubled after the European Championship.
But big money isn't being spent well; talks of big money moves are sometimes obvious jokes for football fans and unfortunately, at other times, such moves are bizarre business moves by reputable clubs.
Summer Gems
David Silva
The classy winger, who currently plays at Valencia, produced fine displays and contributed well to the Spanish national team's European Championship-winning campaign. The winger has great technique, dribbling skills and can produce accurate shots, like those that troubled Gianluigi Buffon when Spain played against the lacklustre Italy.
David Villa
With Fernando Torres' move being highly unlikely, the gifted finisher is arguably the best young striker available in the transfer market with Valencia missing out on Champions League football next season.
Didier Drogba
With AC Milan, Inter Milan and Real Madrid reportedly ready to move for the Ivorian finisher, Drogba could very well be the most valuable transfer of the summer.
Ronaldinho's Transfer Saga
The latest comment on Ronaldinho's departure from Barcelona came from AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani who said that Ronnie has rejected the offer from Manchester City.
The news of Ronaldinho's refusal of Man City's contract offer might open doors to his pending transfer to AC Milan especially after Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti told the Milan board that he would like to see Ronaldinho at the San Siro.
30 Million Euro ADE-Who?
After a mediocre start with the Gunners, Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor scored an impressive 30 goals last season. His good performances last season have made the 24 year-old a target of AC Milan, Barcelona and even Chelsea, reports suggest.
However, a far-too-good-for-Adebayor £ 35m tag made AC Milan quit the race of signing Adebayor. Barcelona currently lead the line of teams who are doing their best to sign the player who wants improved wages, something that does not fit with the tight-money policy employed by Arsenal.
AC Milan who can jump at the opportunity of capturing Samuel Eto'o who is unhappy at Barcelona or can take the chance of signing the unsettled Didier Drogba from Chelsea, are linked with a one-season-hit-striker?
Has Adebayor, by scoring 30 goals in a season, become a world-class striker? Does he deserve the £ 35 million tag?
What about Barcelona? Would signing Adebayor give them a step ahead over Real Madrid? Can he compete against Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o? Aren't they better by far?
Well, for a team that sells Deco for £8million, their inappropriate valuation might get them Adebayor's signature if they are to meet Arsenal's demand of £35m.
Arsene Wenger's comments that Arsenal is a club that sells, along with the club having no intention to raise Adebayor's wages means that Ade will soon be on his way out of the Emirates stadium.
The questions regarding his transfer are not a matter of "will he go?", but "where to" and "when"?
Cristiano Ronaldo
The ongoing transfer saga has turned into something like a soap opera as Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid—if it happens—will probably be the biggest transfer move of the summer.
A proposed 70m Euros will be paid if the Portuguese Champions League winner is to move to Madrid, with the deal possibly seeing Robinho move to Old Trafford.
What is the best deal that could be done in the summer transfer window? Isn't Adebayor overvalued? Have your say!
