The Dodgers began the scoring first when Andre Ethier, batting second, hit a double to bring in Matt Kemp. After Russell Martin struck out, Jeff Kent hit a single to center and Ethier moved to third.

Then Ethier scored when Andruw Jones grounded into a fielders' choice. Shortstop Omar Vizquel threw the ball to second to get Kent out. The first inning ended with the Dodgers leading the Giants 2-0.

The score would remain that way until the sixth when the Giants scored one run. Chan Ho Park walked Ray Durham. He then advanced to second when Randy Winn grounded out to second baseman Kent.

Aaron Rowand brought in Ray Durham with a double to right.

The Giants hit four more runs in the seventh.

Joe Biemel opened the seventh inning for the Dodgers. Jose Castillo got a double to right. Next, Vizquel hit a sacrifice ball to first baseman James Loney. Castillo advanced to third.

The Dodgers replaced Biemel with Brian Falkenborg. He struck out Rich Aurilia who was pinch hitting for Barry Zito, but he gave up a single to Fred Lewis which brought in Castillo.

Lewis moved to second with a Durham walk. Next, Winn hit a single to right and Lewis scored. With Winn at first and Durham at third, Cory Wade replaced Falkenborg.

Durham and Winn both score off of Benji Molina's double to right. This made the game's final score 5-2 Giants.

The Dodgers' Falkenborg got the loss and Zito got the win for the Giants.

The Dodgers' Eric Stults will face Matt Cain for their next game.
