Saints not going to release Reggie Bush?

There has been talk (maybe too much talk) this offseason that the New Orleans Saints could potentially let go of RB Reggie Bush. While he’s a good player who can flash dynamite, he isn’t the unmitigated stud that many had predicted when he came into the NFL with the second pick in the draft in 2006.

According to Mike Lombardi of NFL Network, the Saints are “not even contemplating” cutting Bush loose despite him being owed $8 million next year. That’s a lot of scratch for a third-down back who can return punts.

Then again, he helped them win a Super Bowl and looked like an entirely new runner in the playoffs this year. If he can keep that up and learn how to finish his runs, he could be even more productive in 2010. We aren’t suggesting he turn into a power back, he just needs to learn how to do the little things, like fall forward.
