Top Prospects The Lions Should Consider In The First Three Rounds
Round-1-
Round one really all depends on what the Rams pick. Most mock drafts have either Suh or Mccoy going to the rams.More than likely,Suh will go to the rams. That leaves Mccoy to the lions. Many experts say the Lions picking up Mccoy is the right thing to do, but the lions secondary is also a huge weakness on them. Eric Berry and Joe Haden are two guys that could be stars in the nfl one day, but picking them up at the 2nd position in the draft is a little bit of a reach. If the lions don't want a defensive tackle in round one they should trade down. The seahawks would be the most likely canidate because they would be able to draft the quarterback they want, if they want to go in that direction. We could get their 3rd rounder from them and focus on drafting either Okung, Berry or Haden. One of these players is going to be avaible, and who knows maybe even mccoy could fall to us.
Round 2- Round 2 is really interesting. Both end Brandon Graham and guard Mike Iupati are both guys that could fall to the lions, and if they do, the lions should pick them up. But, according to most mock drafts they are both being tooken in the first round, so the lions will have to go somewhere else. If the lions do trade down from seattle, then how bout them taking that 3rd rounder they got and trading up to get one of those players? If they stay at round 2 though cornerback Patrick Robinson jumps out at me right away. Also big boy Terrence Cody is another possiblity, if nobody takes him in the first round. Although he is basically a 3-4 defensive lineman, the lions used to have a defensive tackle just like him. His name was Shaun Rogers. If the lions could coach Cody just right, then he could be a big star in detroit, instead of being just a big player. Defensive end Everson Griffen should also get a look.
Round 3- The wide recievers that could fall to the third round are well worth looking up. Jordan Shipley and Mike Williams could both be good fits in detroit. Jordan Shipley especially. He is a good sized reliable wide reciever that has some returning ablilty. Also Kyle Wilson a cornerback could be a option.
