The Philadelphia Flyers are having a great start to their 07/08 season, but are they for real? I think they are, here are my reasons for why they will continue to have a good season and make the playoffs for the first time in 3 years.
#1 Reason: Strong goaltending. The Flyers have found a keeper in net in Martin Biron who's played superb posting a record of 7-4-0, a GAA of 2.10, and a save percentage of .942.
#2 Reason: Young talent. Both Jeff Carter and Mike Richards are playing great this year. Mike Richards was held to only 10 goals last year and he already has 9 goals after only 14 games. Meanwhile, Jeff Carter has potted 7 goals and 3 assists in the same amount of games. Another young talent is Joffrey Lupul. He looked promising in Anaheim before having a dud year in Edmonton. He has shown some offensive spark with the Flyers however posting 12 points in 14 games.

#3 Reason: Off-season signings. Signing Daniel Briere was probably the smartest move of any team in the off-season. He leads the Flyers in scoring with 16 points in 14 games. Also, another good signing was offensive defenseman, Kimmo Timonen. He has put up 6 points in his first 14 games for the Flyers.
#4 Reason: Already held talent. Simon Gagne, who's been forgotten in all of this is having a pretty good early season as well. He has 8 points in only 10 games after missing 4 games for injuries. R.J. Umberger is another player who's played for the Flyers for a couple years and is having a pretty good season. He's chipped in 2 goals and 6 assists in his first 12 games.
These are my reasons for why the Philadelphia Flyers are going to continue to have a good season. They finished with the least amount of points for a team in the last 5 years last year. I don't predict anything like that happening again.
