2010 NFL Combine: 6 Things To Watch For
This year's combine should be very interesting. Each year player's stocks rise and fall and this year will be no different. The combine can be the difference between first or second round; seventh or not even drafted. I have listed the six players to look for at the combine. Most of these players depend completely on their performances, but some will simply be fun to watch. it is a very athletic class, so this years all-around athlete award will be very competitive.
Some of these players have decided to skip the combine, but they will likely do the same things at their Pro Day.
1. Everything Tim Tebow
Scouts will be analyzing every little thing Tebow does. Expect ESPN and NFL Network to cover every thing he does at the combine.
His release will be scrutinized to the most minute details. Unfortunately for him, Teams will probably not like what they see from his technique.
Because of his raw talent he will depend on having good tangibles. He will get good marks, but not on the level of other great athletes like Michael Vick.
Tebow is the most interesting prospect in this draft, so enjoy the debates about his future the entire off season.
2. Sam Bradford's Shoulder
Bradford's stock depends nearly entirely on how his shoulder injury is. If he shows he is fully recovered and throws well at the combine he could shoot up into the top five. But if teams have long term concern about his arm he might fall out of the top 10. He will not fall further than the top 15, unless he shows he hasn't began to recover.
3. Taylor Mays
Taylor Mays is one of the most incredible athletes in combine history. Because of his lack of production his senior year, the combine will be essential to were he is drafted. He has the potential to have the best numbers in the combine which could put him in the top 10. He could be this year's Chris Johnson, who was not graded as a first rounder until his 4.24 time at the combine.
4. Terrence Cody Running
It will be very interesting to watch Cody run. He is 370 pounds, so will likely run a very slow 40 yard sprint. Early estimations are around a 5.7 which would be pretty slow. It will also be great to watch him run the shuttle and the drills. And maybe he will run without his shirt on, which would be very interesting.
5. Trindon Holliday, How Fast is He?
People expect him to run an extremely fast 40, so it will be very interesting to see just how fast. He is expected to run a sub 4.3 which might shoot him up draft boards.
6. Dexter McCluster
He has been rising about boards and the combine will likely help. He is not an ideal size but he will have very good measurables . f he has an incredible combine he might make it into the first round.
Also watch for C.J Spiller, a great performance could push him into the top ten.
