The Dodgers scored early in the first. After Matt Kemp struck out, Russell Martin singled to right. Jeff Kent's walk pushed Martin to second where he scored when James Loney doubled and Kent advanced to third.
Both Kent and Loney scored on Blake Dewitt's single to center. The Dodgers left the inning with a 3-0 nothing lead.
The score would remain that way until the top of third when Andre Ethier hit a homer off the first pitch of the inning.
The Astros did not counter back until the fifth inning. A fielding error by second baseman Luis Maza put Geoff Blum on first. Hunter Pence singled to right.
With Pence on first and Blum on second, J.R. Towles doubled. His double brought in the two runners and brought the score to 4-2.
The Dodgers answered right back when Loney homered on 3-1 count.
The Dodgers' 5-2 lead would remain that way for the remainder of the game.
