The Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga is likely to rumble on for some time yet, with talks delayed because of the player’s need for surgery.
Sky Sports reported that Portugal’s team doctor had claimed he would be set for surgery this weekend, whilst the club have released two statements saying no decision has been made.
Whilst the Portuguese team doctor is offering a scoop on the latest Ronaldo news, it appears that his sister, Elma Aveiro, is prepared to do the same.
It was only a month ago that Ronaldo’s mum claimed “it was certain” Ronaldo was staying in Manchester, and today, his sister has confirmed the same.
"Cristiano wants to keep playing at Manchester United," Aveiro said. "Real Madrid keep making very stron advances for him. There is a lot of speculation in the newspapers all the time about where he will go and what he is doing but we know who he really is and what he is really up to. He wants to stay at United."
There have been several “sources close to Ronaldo” who suggest that he is looking for a move to Real Madrid this summer, but surely no source could be considered closer than his mum and sister.
With Ronaldo still refusing to openly speak about what he wants, we are still left in the dark over the future. However, it appears as though Sir Alex Ferguson’s strong line in this whole situation has seen the ball in our court once more.
Will Ronaldo be at United next season?
"Ronaldo Tells Family: "I Don't Want To Leave United"" was originally published at The Republik of Mancunia.

Looks more and more likely now doesnt it? I for aint worried if he goes or stays. I f he stays, we have possibly the best player in the world. if not, we have enough money to reinforce the team to such a level that it will be very hard to stop us.

After EURO08....... Real changed their minds.
I had spoken of this possibility before the Euros.
The media winker has lost value.
The more he plays on an international stage the more he loses value.
Don`t hate me for it Keith but.....Chelsea all the way in 2009!!

The lad is good there`s no denying that.
In none of my anti-Cristiano digs have I ever said he`s not a good player.
Just does not live up to expectations at times.
Media should take a lot of the blame. With all their hype they put pressure on him.
He could silence all the critics next season...including myself.
I`m very excited about the prospect of a more exciting Chelsea next season
and I will definitely be tuning in to the EPL or at least all the derbies with the big four involved.
I used to be a ManU fan back in 98/99. I love the way ManU won that match in the dieing minutes against the German club I don`t remember now.....and I wore a ManU jersey in Brazil and cheered against Palmeiras in the Tokyo affair.
After that great team fell apart I felt disappointed and lost interest in EPL till last year.
Palmeiras put together the greatest team I ever saw in 95 and then everyone was sold to Europe including greats like Rivaldo who at the time was nobody.
Every time I like a great club they fall apart.
I`m trying my luck with Chelsea now. So next season we are to be adversaries I`m afraid.
May the best club take top honours.
