Decade-End Awards:Women's Wrestling Style

Welcome one and all!This is long overdue,but at least it's here!That's right,you guessed it (Or read the title).It's the decade-end awards for women's wrestling!

Now here's the low-down,these awards are limited to women's wrestling in North America from the year 2000-2009.Awards will be given to women in the "big two",so don't expect to see a lot of Joshi wrestlers on this list.

So without further ado',here's the list!

Heel of The Decade:Melina

This was a toughy.Why not the great funny-bitch heel Trish,right?Or how about the rocker-biotch of the century,Lita?And who could forget daddies little bitch,Stephanie?Well that's just it,that's all they were.Great,rocker,daddie's little girl,but there was only ever one queen biotch,Melina.

Melina played the uber bitch role to a t'.From backstage brawls,to interfering in every match her "boys" from MNM were in,to putting women back in line in matches!Melina is,and always will be,queen bitch.

Face of The Decade:Trish Stratus

This one was nearly impossible to choose as well,because during her face runs Lita owned the face spot,but in the end the one,the only,the ultimate face had to be Trish Stratus.Why?

After the McMahon-Trish angle,Trish went on to become the most popular Diva in company history.This accompanied with her face push led to her legendary status within the wrestling world.

Trish sold moves well,and she played the beat down underdog fantastically,unrivaled even.

All of these factors make Trish Face of the Decade.

Breakout Star of The Decade:Mickie James

Ahhh,Mickie James.Remember when this little country girl came from out of nowhere and won our hearts with her in-ring style and lovable attitude?I do.

Mickie blazed herself a trail that could never be taken away from her.Miss James introduced a new style of psycho.The loving-stalker-turns-on-frenemy-psycho.

Did she create the psycho gimmick?Of course not,but she did make the best psycho we've ever seen grace our t.v screens,well,at least mine.

And noone would've ever guessed that this country gal' would become the top Diva face in the company for the next four years to come.

Chracter of The Decade:Mickie James (Lovable Psycho)

Again,there was never another female character as diverse,maybe not even a more male diverse character.Ok,that might be pushing.

Mickie James psycho character had so many different layers to it that it wasn't even funny.

She was lovable,hate-able,funny,nice,mean,caring,insecure,and the list goes on and on.If there were anyone to take this title,it has to be Mickie James.

Feud of The Decade:Lita vs Trish Stratus

Really,is this even an award in need of thought?

Lita vs Trish is and always will be remembered as the ultimate Div-no,women's wrestling feud.Both women have had illustrious careers,and the parallels between both are amazing.

This feud was so over at one point that they had to main event Raw.One of the only two Diva main events in WWE,and one out of the five women's main events in the big two.

An amazing feat no doubt,but the real amazing thing about this feud is that it began from the start of both women's careers and ended towards the end of both of their careers.

So of course,Lita vs Trish has to be the feud of the decade.

Underappreciated Feud of The Decade:Torrie Wilson vs Dawn Marie

Where do I begin with this one?

I don't even know how to explain the over-ness of this feud.They had the top rated segments of the show for months,numerous ppv matches,and they knew how to entertain.

This feud is often over-looked for the simple fact that it was on Smackdown,and it wasn't over a championship.It literally came from nowhere,but it led to one of Smackdown's greatest feuds.

Match of The Decade:Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong at Final Resoution

Although there have been countless matches over the span of these last ten years,none can compare to this one.

It had everything you wanted from a match:

*Build-up
*Character drive
*Storytelling
*Technicality

and most importantly

*Raw-ness

This match showed what women's wrestling in North America could be,if allowed.

Most Improved Wrestler of The Decade:Gail Kim

Gail is considered one of the,if not the best female wrestler in North America.She has the skill,and the wide variety of moves.

But before Gail Kim was one of the best,she was barely noticed in the WWE.Gail came in on her first night in WWE and won the title,but did she deserve it then?

To be honest,Gail Kim in WWE was quite bland and boring.She was a decent wrestler,but not great.It wasn't until Gail went to TNA that she became the awe-inspiring performer she is today.

Ironic,isn't it?Gail was in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world,yet she was barely noticeable.Then,when she goes to some small Florida promotion,she becomes one of the world's hottest commodities.

Heh.

Runner-up:Candice Michelle

Underappreciated Wrestler of The Decade:Molly Holly

If there was ever anyone who was never given the credit she deserves,it has to be Molly Holly.

Arguably the best technical wrestler to come across North America,Molly really wasn't ever given her due credit.Sure she had a few championship reigns,but I don't think she's had enough.

From her matches,to her promos,to her character,Molly is the most under-appreciated.

Champion of The Decade:Molly Holly

Although Molly Holly's reigns are often overlooked,it's probably because she was too busy making her opponent look good.

Molly did everything she could with whatever she was given.Whether it was a match,a short promo,a championship reign,anything really,Molly made the best of it.

Her championship reigns are no exception.Molly is one of the few people to do a lot with her reigns,and she's also one of the few to do this consistently.

Most Skilled Wrestler of The Decade:Molly Holly

Well,I've already said how great of a wrestler Molly is,listed tons of her accolades,and pretty much marked out.

So,need I explain?

Spot of the Decade:Beth Phoenix Hits Melina On her Head With her Own Foot

Seriously,how is that humanly possible?

When we saw this the only thing going through our heads was,"HOLY SH*T!".

If that doesn't say spot of the decade,I don't know what will.

Runner-up:Lita's suicide dive on Trish during their Raw main event match

Combeback of The Decade:Lita

Ok,this was definitely a great women's comeback.

As soon as Lita ran to the ring her scorching red hair let everyone know that the queen of extreme was back,and we loved it.

Lita came in knocking heads left and right.Finally she introduced her infamous Lita-ddt to the "Oooo"'s and "Aaaas"'s of the crowd.

Plus,she looked pretty damn badass doing it.

Runner-up:Trish returns to help Ashley

Transition of The Decade:Melina

When Melina went from managing to wrestling it was completely unnoticeable.

She was immediately entered into a feud with Mickie James,which was extremely over with the fans.Then,after a few weeks,Melina won her first championship from Mickie James,WWE's newest Golden girl.

Melina went on to feud with the likes of Ashley,Candice Michelle,Beth Phoenix,and of course Michelle McCool.

Entrance of The Decade:Melina

Melina's entrance is the most distinct in WWE history,male or female.

The paparazzi,the belly dancing,the awesome-ness.Melina's entrance is always fun to watch and quite gaudy in a sense.

Remember her Wrestlemania 24 entrance?

And who doesn't love splits? ;)

Sexiest Woman of The Decade:Torrie Wilson

Although I'm not a big fan of the whole 'sex appeal over wrestling' thing,what would the Golden Era of women's wrestling be without it?

And,of course there had to be one queen of sexy,who else but Torrie Wilson?

Torrie simply exuded sexy.She didn't have to act like it,she could just be it.

Women's Duo of The Decade:Gail Kim and Molly Holly

A long time ago Trish Stratus was the top Diva.

And a long time ago everyone hated her.But none probably hated her as much as these two.

Gail and Molly went on to target and attack Trish numerous times,that is until Lita returned...

Promo of The Decade:Mickie James Kidnappes Ashley

Wow,where to begin with this one?

Well,during Mickie's psycho days she wanted to let Trish no that there were no hard feelings between each other,so.....she got her a little present:Ashley.

This promo could also count for most daring of the decade,because Trish bloodied Mickie's nose....aaaand later Mickie kissed a knocked out Trish.

Runner-up:Trish calls Christy out

Extremist of The Decade:Lita

Joining the most extreme tag team,the Hardy Boys,from the get-go is obvious proof that Lita is quite extreme.

From the hurricanrannas,to the dives,to just plain getting beat up,Lita is the queen of extreme.

Woman of The Decade:Trish Stratus

*7-time Women's Champion
*3-time Babe of the Year
*Diva of the Decade
*Fitness guru
*Numerous-time cover model

It would be absurd to think that anyone but Trish win this award.She ruled the Golden Era and this award is proof of that.
