ESPN's Chris Low is reporting this morning that Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett has a broken foot following conditioning drills on Wednesday. The injury will set him back 3-4 months and the 2nd team All-SEC signal-caller will miss all of preseason practice.

The good news is that he will be back in plenty of time for preseason camp in August, but the bad news for Hog fans is this could hamper Mallett down the road depending on the severity of the break.

Mallett is a junior for 2010, and is no doubt one of the top passers in the country with his size and smarts. He was also named the No. 1 QB in the SEC in Bleacher Report's SEC Power Rankings last week.

"I am confident in our athletic trainers and medical staff and believe they are the best in the country. Ryan is a strong competitor who I know will put all his effort into overcoming his injury and continuing to lead his team," said Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino.

While Mallett is lucky this happened now as opposed to preseason practice, a broken foot is never an easy injury to cope with, and for his future along with Arkansas's 2010 season, let's hope Ryan Mallett has a full and speedy recovery.
