Snowboarding icon Shaun White didn't even need to complete his second run in the halfpipe last night. White already secured his second gold medal in the halfpipe before taking off on his second run. Nevertheless, White hit the halfpipe and showed off a new signature move that wowed audiences all over the world: his Double McTwist 1260.
There was no pressure on White to attempt the move, a move he has kept secret for much of the last year. Yet after gaining huge air and making 1080s look easy, White landed the fabled trick and raised the already insurmountable pedestal he already sits atop.
The second run topped by the Double McTwist 1260 landed White a score of 48.4, less than two points away from a perfect score of 50. White not only demonstrated that he remains the global standard of snowboarding, but that at 23 years old, he continues to push the limit of the sport to levels only he can reach.
