The Devil Made Me Do It
Don’t you remember as a kid the “Where’s Waldo?” books? In a sea of people, objects, animals, etc. Waldo in his black rimmed glasses, and red & white shirt was lost, until you really focused on looking for him. Well Tiger Woods has played a number of games since his Thanksgiving incident, but I didn’t think Where’s Waldo was going to be one of them. Luckily a media game player focused and located Waldo Woods, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. WHT!!!! Mississippi? Yeah…it’s official Woods checked himself into Mississippi rehab facility. Now I know you’re saying, ‘I thought Tiger cheated on his wife, not had a drug problem’, ok…it’s not that type of rehab, but a rehab for sex addicts. For those of you like me who didn’t know that type of place existed, “Welcome to America”.
Only in America can you be a mega-celebrity, be one of the richest men in professional sports, have endorsements from some of the country’s top Fortune 500 companies, cheat on your wife and family with not one woman or even two, but a plethora of women, and now enter sex rehab to sweep your transgressions under the rug. Now look…I’m all about you getting help for your “problem” but is this a “problem” that you really need that type of help on. When did cheating on your wife with various women make you a victim of an addiction, I thought it just made you a whore.
As you know I have spent many years as a publicist, and I’m all for a great distraction from what is really going on, but sex rehab. PLEASE! Can we all say publicity stunt?!?! There are people in this world who have real problems, like foreclosure, job loss, homelessness, alcoholism, and the list could go on and on, but is this a problem that needs this type of therapy.
Now ladies you can agree with me on this one, at some point in all of our lives we’ve all been cheated on, mine was so recent as my last boyfriend. Now when he was running around over town during the Christmas holidays with “Her”, I hardly doubt that once our relationship ended that he was going to put his business and life on hold and head to Hattiesburg to have group therapy sessions with other men (and women) like himself to get help and discuss why he wanted to literally share his Christmas cheer. From what I have experienced and heard from a number of my girlfriends, this is not what the average person does. There are only two scenarios that play out here…(1.)They admit their wrong doing, then either work it out or go their separate ways, or (2.) They get caught, then admit their wrong doing, then either work it out or go their separate ways.
Ok, Ok, Ok…I have digressed, but the point that I am trying to make is that unless you have millions, and in Tiger’s case billions, to lose, you have to find something scientific to pin your issues on, because this is not something that you would usually do unless you were “sick”. Real people don’t check themselves into facilities, stay there for a couple of weeks or months to show good faith that they are trying to make amends; real people have break-ups, divorce, or they even try to work it out. At the end of the day real people don’t have the excuse, “The Devil made me do it!”
