I now present the also-ran tournament of the year, the Mayakoba Classic!

There’s last year's winner, Mark Wilson, with his sweet statue of a lizard!

It is actually too bad that this course has to play second fiddle to the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship each year.

The Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon golf course is one of the most beautiful venues on the PGA Tour. It is also one of the most challenging, ranking 14th in difficulty.

I really wish I had tons of stats and information to throw at you this week, but this is only the fourth year of this event, so there is not a ton of data available. Plus it rarely attracts any big-name golfers, probably due to the small prize pool amount in comparison with the average prize pool on tour.

Why even have a six pack?

A friend of mine who goes by A.A. told me I had to do one. Coincidentally, his initials are also how he picked all of his golfers in a pool we are in together: All Asian.

His goal was to try to select all Asian ethnicity golfers for his pool, yet somehow he forgot to pick Ryo Ishikawa!

Good luck this week A.A. You need K.J. Choi to work some magic. He will definitely be a favorite here but is not less than 20:1 odds, so he is OUT for the six pack.

Well, most fantasy leagues do not use the WGC Match Play event because the scoring does not translate well into most fantasy scoring formats for whatever reason.

Also, there are lines on the sports books, so why not try to nail someone down to win, as there is some definite talent with great odds available.

I crawled up the ranks a little bit in Yahoo! last week. I currently have 954 points and rank in the 75th percentile overall (up one percent), and I am in the 68th percentile in my group The Fans of Hunter Mahan (up three percent)

Here’s who I like in Yahoo! fantasy this week:

GROUP A

I will be starting Heath Slocum and backing him up with Alejandro Canizares.

GROUP B

Kevin Stadler and Briny Baird will be starting, and Charles Howell III and K.J. Choi ride the bench.

GROUP C

I will start John Merrick and back him up with David Duval.

Now let’s take a peek at this week's six pack...

No. 1: David Duval

96698541

We all love a comeback story, don’t we?

This may actually be a great place for David Duval to bounce back and get that elusive win he has been seeking for years. He is coming off a fantastic finish for second place at Pebble Beach last week, and now may be the time for him to excel.

He is facing a weak field this week. If he can get over his third-round woes, he will definitely contend this week.

At 25:1 odds I’m giving him a shot. This guy was 251:1 last week!

No. 2: Kevin Stadler

77836459

Kind of looks like Grimace with a golf club, doesn't he?

Walrus Jr. is coming off a nice T10 at Pebble Beach last week, even though it should have been a T7. He missed a two-foot putt on the 18th hole—the $38,000 putt.

Stadler has played well at this event before, placing 13th and 20th. His game seems to be more honed in this year, so I am expecting a great event for him this week.

Stadler has been nailing greens in regulation this year and currently ranks 12th on tour.

A good selection to wager on this week is Kevin Stadler at 25:1 odds.

No. 3: Briny Baird

93529137

Here is a man who has never won on the PGA tour but has come very close many times. Baird has placed 12th and sixth here in the past two years, so you know he likes this place.

If anyone is due for a victory, it is Briny Baird.

I am taking a chance on him this week at 33:1 odds.

No. 4: John Merrick

89223150

John has been playing well as of late, and he did come in third here last year If he can string together four good rounds, he very well could be hoisting the trophy at Mayakoba on Sunday.

Merrick is a great driver of the golf ball and is tearing up the par fives this year.

Merrick is very capable of going low, and we know this track suits his eye. I recommend backing him at terrific 38:1 odds of winning.

No. 5: Carl Pettersson

95839521

Here is a guy who should have a great bounce-back year. He only earned $564k last year, which is way down from his average of $2.5 million over the past three years.

His recent play has not been stellar, but he did nail down a T5 early in the year at the Sony Open. This may be exactly the field that Pettersson needs to build his confidence back up.

Pettersson has been putting well this year, and so far he is one of the best at scoring low on par four holes.

There is great value with this talented guy this week at 40:1 odds.

No. 6: Matt Every

92335795

My long shot (like “every” one here this week isn’t a long shot) is going to be Matt Every.

Every won the Nationwide Tour Championship last year.

Every is a great driver in both distance and accuracy. He also hits lots of greens in regulation and has nailed tons of birdies so far this year.

His last two events have yielded him a T15 at Torrey Pines and a T27 at Pebble. This shows he does pretty well on difficult courses.

This will be his first year at Mayakoba, and I think he will definitely contend.

Take a shot with Matt Every at 66:1 odds.
