Here is a recap of Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 4 of the 2008 College Football season:
1. Florida Gators 3-0
2. Kansas Jayhawks 4-0
3. USC Trojans 2-0
4. Missouri Tigers 4-0
5. West Virginia Mountaineers 3-0
6. Georgia Bulldogs 3-1
7. Oklahoma Sooners 3-0
8. Texas Longhorns 4-0
9. Clemson Tigers 4-0
10. Texas Tech Red Raiders 4-0
Now, it's time to move on to Week 5 of the 2008 College Football season.
Key Games in Week 5:
Mississippi State (3-1) @ LSU (3-1)
This SEC West showdown features two teams, who are on a roll... after suffering crushing non-conference defeats in Week One of the College Football season, when the Mississippi State Bulldogs lost at Louisiana Tech, and the LSU Tigers lost AT HOME, to Appalachian State.
Now, both teams are heading into this game with a 3-game winning streak. In fact, both of these teams are coming off huge victories. LSU is coming of a very big road win, at Auburn, in Week 4.
On the other hand, Mississippi State is coming off TWO huge victories... First, holding serve at home, against Auburn, in Week 3. Then, the Bulldogs travelled to Georgia Tech... where they left with a very nice road win.
Now, the Mississippi State Bulldogs travel to Tiger Stadium... where both teams are looking to build on this positive momentum. In fact, the winner of this early season showdown will be in the driver seat in the SEC West race.
Last season, the LSU Tigers CRUSHED the Mississippi State Bulldogs 45-0. Unfortunately, I just do not expect the Bulldogs can make up 45 points, in the span of one year. Therefore, look for LSU to win this game.
Winner: LSU
Weber State (4-0) @ Utah (4-0)
Wow, who would have guessed that both of these teams would be 4-0, heading into this Week 5 matchup?
Yes, this FCS vs. MWC showdown features two surprising UNDEFEATED teams... as Weber State travels to Utah, to take on the #11 Utah Utes.
Weber State already has a huge victory, over an FBS team, this season. On September 7th, Weber State defeated the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. However, it should also be noted that Weber State opened the season playing Montana-Western AT HOME, on August 28th!
On the other hand, the Utah Utes have played far tougher competition than Weber State. Utah has only played 4 games, so far, this season... but the Utes have been tested very well. In fact, the Utah Utes have already played THREE games on the road... and TWO of those road games presented REAL CHALLENGES.
In Week 1, the Utes travelled to Ann Arbor, to take on the Michigan Wolverines... and left the Big House, with a huge road win. Last week, the Utah Utes earned another huge road win, by beating the Air Force Falcons. Hence, the Utah Utes are ranked #11.
But in the end, I expect the Utah Utes to CRUSH Weber State... by AT LEAST SEVEN TOUCHDOWNS, to improve to 5-0 on the 2008 College Football season, and possibly move into the Top 10.
Winner: Utah
San Jose State (2-2) @ Hawaii (0-3)
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will be coming into this game fresh off a bye week and 14 days rest, while San Jose State comes off a loss at Stanford.
On October 12th last season, the Rainbow Warriors, with Heisman finalist Colt Brennan, had to overcome a 14-point deficit... and NEEDED OVERTIME to defeat the San Jose State Spartans. Now that Hawaii is without Brennan, I am wondering if Hawaii can even get this game, against San Jose State, into OVERTIME.
Either way, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are not going to win this game... IF they get down by at least 14 points. I just do not know how they can come back from that deficit, WITHOUT Colt Brennan.
Look for the San Jose State Spartans to win this game, and continue their alternating win-loss-win pattern, to improve to 3-2 on the season... while the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors remain WINLESS, falling to 0-4 on the season.
Winner: San Jose State
Jimson's Top 10 Standings After Week 5 of the 2008 College Football season:
1. Florida 4-0 (defeated Mississippi)
2. Kansas 4-0 (bye week)
3. USC 3-0 (defeated @ Oregon State)
4. Missouri 4-0 (bye week)
5. West Virginia 4-0 (defeated Marshall)
6. Georgia 4-1 (defeated Alabama)
7. Oklahoma 4-0 (defeated TCU)
8. Texas 4-0 (bye week)
9. Clemson 5-0 (defeated Maryland)
10. Utah Utes 5-0 (defeated Weber State)
Dropped out: #10 Texas Tech Red Raiders 4-0 (bye week)
Stay tuned! Part 6 of Jimson's 2008 College Football Series will be released on Sunday, July 6, 2008 :)

I'm pretty sure you've never even watched college football. Just awful.
from about 1 month ago
What are you talking about???
I have watched SO MANY GAMES of College Football... But, YOU have to understand that it is VERY DIFFICULT to PREDICT the ENTIRE College Football season :)
Moreover, the College Football series gets EVEN TOUGHER... with EACH PASSING WEEK :)
Anyways, IF YOU think that this is just awful... Then, why don't YOU TRY creating YOUR OWN College Football series???
from about 1 month ago
If I had that kind of time, sure.
But to have Kansas at #2 at any point in this season shows just how biased you are.
from about 1 month ago
"But to have Kansas at #2 at any point in this season shows just how biased you are."
Uh know what you are talking about first.... The fact that I have Kansas at #2... THAT does NOT show that I am biased :)
I mean, the Alabama Crimson Tide was ranked #3 in the preseason poll, in 2000... And the 2008 Kansas Jayhawks are a BETTER FOOTBALL TEAM, than the 2000 Alabama Crimson Tide :)
In addition, I believe that Todd Reesing is a BETTER QB than Andrew Zow :)
But, I bet you'll say that Andrew Zow is a BETTER quarterback than Todd Reesing!!!

I'd have to agree with you Ryan.
Something is wrong with the rating system if this guy is at the top.
I've lost a lot of respect for BR. It seems as if it's becoming a haven for high schoolers and women with no clue.

No offense, but if the key games of the week in the College Football world of week 5 are Weber State vs. Utah and Hawaii vs. San Jose State, I'm not interested in College Football.
from about 1 month ago
So, I guess that you are NOT interested in College Football... because I consider Weber State @ Utah AND San Jose State @ Hawaii, to be KEY GAMES in Week 5 of the College Football season :)
But Derek, is there a game on here... that you can call a BIG GAME???

How are these key games? Who cares if Weber State is 4-0?
from about 1 month ago
Well, the Mississippi State @ LSU game SHOULD be a KEY GAME :)
But seriously, I think that NO ONE really cares that Weber State is 4-0... EXCEPT ME :)
from about 1 month ago
Haha Thomas; I was wrong about you.
You're good you.

You realize Hawaii is going to be absolutely awful this year. So why would you make them a big game?
There's about 20 games on that list that are bigger games than Hawaii San Jose State.
from about 1 month ago
He's an idiot. I mean look at this thing--Kansas is #2 in his world!!!! Wow.
from about 1 month ago
"You realize Hawaii is going to be absolutely awful this year. So why would you make them a big game?"
YES, I DO realize that Hawaii is going to be ABSOLUTELY AWFUL this year!!! However, I CHOOSE to make them a big game... because I LOVE EXPOSING JUST HOW BAD Hawaii will be this year :)
from about 1 month ago
Well you also don't mention Hawaii lost their top three WR and best offensive lineman which is why they are going to be awful, not that they loss Colt Brennan.
from about 1 month ago
"Well you also don't mention Hawaii lost their top three WR and best offensive lineman which is why they are going to be awful, not that they loss Colt Brennan."
I think that I mentioned that in Part 2 of my College Football series (I will go back, and check, to make sure)... In fact, I will re-edit Part 2, IF I find that I did NOT include it there :)

Jimson, what about including FCS teams in the key games as well?
from about 1 month ago
I ALREADY have included FCS teams in my KEY GAMES:
In Week 1, I included Appalachian State @ LSU.
In Week 2, I included Weber State @ Hawaii.
This week (Week 5), I included Weber State @ Utah.
No I mean a series in this format for only FCS teams.
from about 1 month ago
No, I am NOT going to make a series in this format... for only FCS teams :)
IF YOU want to... then YOU can start creating your own College Football series, for only FCS teams :)
from about 1 month ago
Nah, that would be plagerism if i copied this idea...just like you did
from about 1 month ago
"Nah, that would be plagerism if i copied this idea...just like you did"
Hey, YOU are doing the SAME EXACT thing... with YOUR "Pac-10 Football is Better Than SEC Football" series. The only difference is that... YOU are being OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE with your series, while Justin and I are NOT :)
Anyway, with this comment, I just achieved a new milestone... This is the 20th comment on this message thread. This is the 7th article I have written, to receive AT LEAST 20 comments :)
from about 1 month ago
1.) part 4 has zero comments
2.) the only reason is because you are half the comments of every article you write
you respond to everything, so comment counts are meaningless for your articles

"1.) part 4 has zero comments"

No comment to the second point?

Well, it's basically my job... to respond to everything :)

Why is Georgia versus Alabama not a key game?
thats not but San Jose State and Hawaii is.
from about 1 month ago
"Why is Georgia versus Alabama not a key game?
thats not but San Jose State and Hawaii is."
Well, I just want to make the format of my series CONSISTENT... and therefore, I only have room for 3 key games, per week :)
In addition, I WANT to give NON-BCS teams, like Utah... and FCS teams, like Appalachian State and Weber State, some EXPOSURE in my series :)

Michigan State vs. Indiana
Louisville vs. UConn
Fresno St. vs. UCLA
Tennessee vs. Auburn
Illinois vs. Penn State
Just skimmed through and those 5 games all look more interesting.

It's hard to please everyone!
Hawaii almost lost to San Jose State LY because Colt got a serious concussion....I think Hawai'i will be competitive, but no Colt and no June Jones makes them lucky to be .500 TY.
I like the Fresno State v UCLA game, because I think the Dawgs beat Wisconsin, and if they beat UCLA, they could be a BCS buster this year. They have a tough sked, and their non-conf sked is ambitious.
It's hard to say, but that could be a key game for them IF THEY BEAT THE BADGERS.
I like this idea, Jimson...it's kinda fun. So far, my boys are 2-0! Yeah! So far, so good! Keep up this fun idea. And ignore the trolls.

"It's hard to please everyone!"
Well, I DEFINITELY AGREE with you, on this statement :)
"Hawaii almost lost to San Jose State LY because Colt got a serious concussion....I think Hawai'i will be competitive, but no Colt and no June Jones makes them lucky to be .500 TY."
In my opinion, NO Colt Brennan AND NO June Jones makes them lucky... to be even 1-12 THIS SEASON :)
In other words, STAY TUNED! That's the ONLY WAY you'll find out... whether or NOT Hawaii will WIN EVEN ONE game this season!!! Believe me, Hawaii's LOSING STREAK is going to CONTINUE for a while :)
"I like the Fresno State v UCLA game, because I think the Dawgs beat Wisconsin, and if they beat UCLA, they could be a BCS buster this year. They have a tough sked, and their non-conf sked is ambitious.

Well, I already have Fresno State at 1-2... after LOSING @ Rutgers and to Wisconsin, in my series. In fact, I already did Wisconsin @ Fresno State, as a KEY GAME... in Part 3 of my series:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/33049-jimson-cuentas-2008-college-football-series-part-3
Oh, by the way, I also have Fresno State LOSING @ UCLA this week... Thus, dropping Fresno State to 1-3, on the 2008 College Football season :)
However, I have VERY GOOD NEWS for Fresno State... They play Hawaii NEXT WEEK. (This will be a KEY GAME, in Part 6 of my series... which will be released on Sunday, July 6th).
NOT ONLY will Fresno State WIN this game... But I also have Fresno State going on a 7-game WINNING STREAK, heading into their November 28th showdown @ Boise State, with an 8-3 record :)
However, I will NOT reveal (just yet)... the winner of the Fresno State @ Boise State showdown :)
But as for my BCS buster this year... I already told you (on your "Jimmy Clausen: Failure To Launch" article) that... the Utah Utes will WIN the Mountain West Conference, go 12-0, and make it to a BCS Bowl Game :)
The only question left to answer now, is: Will the Utah Utes play in the BCS National Championship Game???
"I like this idea, Jimson...it's kinda fun. So far, my boys are 2-0! Yeah! So far, so good! Keep up this fun idea."
I'm VERY GRATEFUL that you like this idea... and I agree that it is kind of fun. And YES, I will keep up this fun idea :)
"And ignore the trolls."
I'll try my best to do so :)

How is a article quality determined by the amount of comments it gets? Please. Especially when the comments are overwhelmingly bad. Tomorrow I could write an idiot piece on why Brett Favre sucks and is the most overrated player ever; I garentee it would get hundreds of comments. Does that make it credible?
I mean seriously Jimson, you're touting yourself as something your not.
I know you have banded together with other village idiots to form a pack of terrible sports writers bent on ruining any credibility within journalism or this site, who feel it necessary to stand up for eachother just for the sake of doing so.
Yes there are alot of haters, and sports banter is about difference of opinon. Yet with you and Lisa that is not what people are wanting to gouge their eyes out about. It's the fact that yall claim to be journalists when you're anything but. These articles are unworthy of anything another than an example of what not to do.
But at least Lisa at some decent writing and shown some promis; notably her article about JP Blecksmith. You on the other hand appear to be nothing more than a bottom feeder as a writer and analyst, intent on making a pack of terrible writers who will back up your filth. You are either writing a piece with the intention of being different and out there (which if this is the case i can respect) or you have absolutely no knowledge of the game of football or the NCAA.
Weber State? Miss State vs. LSU key game? Please.
If you're wondering why i'm harsh it is because you sully the very name of sports writing........

lol, I NEVER said that an article's quality is SOLELY DETERMINED by the amount of comments it gets :)
All I said was that it was JUST ONE (of MANY) FACTORS... that determine an article's quality :)

On the hand, I did NOT see YOUR NAME on ANY of these lists... YES, NOT EVEN ONCE :)
"Weber State? Miss State vs. LSU key game? Please."
Man, YOU are EXTREMELY STUPID AND DUMB... IF YOU are seriously asking why Mississippi State @ LSU is a KEY GAME!!! Let me see... The winner of this game COULD POSSIBLY take the EARLY LEAD, in the SEC WEST race :)

If Utah is in the top 10 in week 5 I'll eat my shorts and post the video on youtube.

Just trust me on this one:
IF Utah WINS BOTH the @ Michigan (Week 1) AND @ Air Force (Week 4) games... Then, I think that the Utah Utes will have an EXCELLENT CHANCE of going UNDEFEATED, and making a BCS Bowl Game!!! In addition, I believe that Utah will have an OUTSIDE CHANCE of making it to the BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME :)
