Shawn Michaels has put on some of the most memorable and greatest matches in WWF/WWE history, particularly at Wrestlemania. His matches at Wrestlemania have received critical acclaim and won many accolades such as the PWI match of the year on numerous occasions. Hence he has been given the moniker "Mr Wrestlemania."
The purpose of this slideshow is to list wrestlers who didn't have the chance to face HBK at the big one but I believe could've put on a great performance as well as present day guys who could also put on a show with HBK.
Randy Savage was one of the most popular and charismatic superstars of all time. In my opinion, like HBK Randy Savage is one of the few wrestlers to have the complete package i.e. the charisma, in ring skills and promo work. Additionally Savage has been known to rise to the occasion and put on a great show.
Putting these two in a match together would be a a dream match. Just think about how crazy the crowd would go not to mention the wrestling skills that would be put on show by these two. would be a match for the ages.
He has been one of the most gifted in ring performers in wrestling history as well as one of the most exciting to watch. Time and time again he managed to put on some of the greatest matches such as his epic encounter with Randy Savage at WM3 as well as numerous matches with Ric Flair in WCW.
I feel that he and HBK could've put on a spectacular match at Wrestlemania as both of their wrestling styles would've complimented each other. This just gets me excited thinking about it.
Like HBK, The Rock has been one of the most popular and charismatic wrestling figures of all time. Both have also headlined several PPVs and Wrestlemanias and were both key figures during the Attitude Era.
While it's safe to say that HBK was far greater in ring than The Rock, both are loved by audiences and would create a great amount of hype and interest if put into a match at Wrestlemania. I would also expect to see The Rock rise to the occasion and help put on a great match.
For a long time HBK and HHH have been the best friends and have been together in one of the greatest alliances in wrestling history in DX. Having said that these two have also had one of the greatest feuds in wrestling history. During this feud, both of them put on some memorable encounters such as their Hell in a Cell match.
Wrestlemania would be the perfect place for these two to have a match and I would expect both to rise to the occasion and put on a great performance. We might see this match happen at WM26. You never know.
John Morrison is one of the most talented superstars currently going around in the WWE. He is an excellent in ring performer, good on the mic and has plenty of charisma. He has also been likened to a younger HBK on a number of occasions. Like HBK, he's also one of the very few performers to have the package.
These two have the skills to put on a memorable performance and the charisma to create a great amount of interest. A great performance from these two at a Wrestlemania would help solidify Morrison a spot in the main event and show he has the credentials to headline future PPVs.
He is without a doubt the best pure athlete going around in the WWE today. Not only that, he is one of the most technically gifted wrestlers of all time and has continued to put on great matches despite not being given the push that many others feel that he deserves.
I believe that he and HBK would both rise to the occasion and deliver a performance that could very well go down as one of the greatest matches in Wrestlemania history. Also a standout performance with HBK at Wrestlemania would also help push him in the right direction and consolidate his spot in the main event scene.
Mysterio is one of the most dynamic superstars going around today with his speed, agility and high flying moveset. He is also well liked and respected by audiences around the world.
I strongly feel that these two could put on a high flying, fast paced and spectacular show at Wrestlemania that would be talked about for a long time. While these two haven't met that often in the ring, they have put on great matches with each other like their last meeting on Smackdown not to long ago.
Captain Charisma is one of my favourite superstars going around in wrestling today. He is a great in ring performer, cuts good promos and has plenty of charisma (pardon the pun). He has proven that he is main event material and a likely championship contender.
There is no doubt in my mind that he and HBK could put on a spectacular performance at a wrestlemania. Both are quick and fast paced with a diverse moveset.
While in more recent times Randy Orton has limited his moveset compared to when he first started in the WWE, which I believe is due to his Viper gimmick, I still feel that he could put on a great show with HBK.
Orton in my opinion is the top guy in the WWE at the moment as well as the top heel. I also feel that if he were put in a match with HBK at Wrestlemania he would know that he would have to rise to the occasion and step up his performance to a whole new level. He has proven that he can put on a great performance i.e his match vs. Chris Benoit at Summerslam 2004. With his best as well as HBk's ability to increase the benchmark at Wrestlemania, this would not doubt be an awesome match.
During his time in the WWE, RVD was an exceptional in ring performer who was dynamic, fast paced and very versatile. He also continued to put on great matches and was very popular with audiences.
I feel that he could've put on a strong and fast paced performance against HBK at Wrestlemania. Both were also popular enough to give this match higher status at a Wrestlemania.
He was an outstanding wrestler who was very talented in the ring. He could also cut good promos. He was able to always put on great performances and could match it with the best in his feuds with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Ric Flair.
I believe that he and HBK were both skilled enough to put on a clinic and produce a memorable performance and Wrestlemania that showcased the essence of technical wrestling.
