Selection Sunday is only a month away and its never to early to start placing future wagers for the NCAA Championship. Today Pro Handicapper Craig Trapp of CT Sports Picks tells us which teams still have value and give you a chance to make money on the NCAA National Championship.  Odds makers have the following four teams as the favorites.  Kansas +180 Syracuse +400 Kentucky +400 Villanova +1000. But since we are looking for the most value for our money we decided not to go with the favorites.

The Big East is the best conference in basketball,  and we will start with a team from that conference, the West Virginia Mountaineers.  Vegas odds makers have listed Huggins’ Team as 18-1 to win the title.  This team is currently 19-4 and led by the versatile Da’Sean Butler.  We like how this team plays on D and also protects the ball will play in the elite 8.  We also like the fact that WVU is currently ranked 5th in the RPI rankings and 2nd in strength of schedule.

For our second pick we will stay in the Big East and select a team who strength of schedule is number 1.  The hardest schedule, in college basketball,  belongs to the Georgetown Hoyas and they currently listed at 20-1 in Las Vegas.  The Hoyas are 18-5 and own an impressive non conference win vs. Duke.  The odds makers love the big east with 4 of the top teams according to Vegas playing in this conference.  We love the fact that they have a great inside outside combo of Freeman and Monroe.

Remember a few weeks ago Kansas State took Kansas to overtime, we do and love them that at 30-1.  This team should make it to the second weekend of the tournament and play for a chance to go to the final four.  This team pays great defense with Clemente and Pullen leading the way on offense.  This is one team that Vegas has undervalued at this point in the season.

After a couple rough weeks we feel there is great value in selecting Michigan State at 25-1.  Odds makers are forgetting that this team returns 5 of their 6 leading scorers from last years game.  When Lucas is healthy he is as good as anyone in the country.  This team is also very deep and is tenacious on defense and rebounds the ball as well as anyone.

Picking future champions you first have to find teams that are likely to play in the elite 8 which all the above truly have that opportunity.  As far as the Final Four predictions a good matchup looks like Kansas over Syracuse in the 1st semi-final game and Kansas State over Georgetown in the 2nd game.

Give us Kansas State to beat Kansas in the National Title Game so we all can cash a longshot ticket at 30-1 on the undervalued Wildcats.

No matter who you choose for a longshot future good luck.
