Less than 24 hours after opting out, the most liked player in the bay area turns his back on the team he put on the map. Baron Davis reportedly signed a 5 year deal with up to $65 million but ohhhh have the tables turned Baron.
Baron Davis who brought the Warriors back to the playoff picture for the first time in over a decade has single handily turned his back on the Warriors. He opted out days after telling coach Nelson that he would return to the team and a week after the NBA draft.
Had he been honest with the Warriors all along then the Warriors would have used the $ 10 million trade exception they had from the Jason Richardson deal last draft day. No, Davis waits until the free agent period starts to screw over the team that made him the player he is now.
He had the nerve to thank bay area fans in the media yesterday by saying how they (bay area fans) rejuvenated his career. Davis was the face of the Warriors since being traded for over 3 years ago and not even taking time to think about it, he just signs a deal with the LA Clippers.
Baron Davis is a great player don't get me wrong but there are ways to go about things and he just didn't go about it the right way in this case. He gave up on the opportunity to win a championship by signing with a team that has had one season over .500 in the last 13 seasons. So Baron enjoy making movies in LA because you will NEVER sniff the playoffs again.
It is no secret that 'Agent Zero', Gilbert Arenas has been offered a 5 year $101 million deal to come back to the city that made him a star. Lets not forget that Agent Zero likes to play his game, taking crazy shots and fast pace offense. Now that sounds to me like a great fit in Oakland along side potential PG Monta Ellis.
No doubt about it with the resigning of Ellis and the acquisition of Arenas the Warriors would have the fastest backcourt in the NBA, maybe in the history of the league. Bother players love to run with Ellis possibly stepping to the SG and letting Arenas handle the ball more.
With Arenas and Ellis in the backcourt the Warriors would have Stephan Jackson at the small forward, Brandon Wright at the other forward and finally Biedrins running the center. That potentially is the most athletic starting 5 in the NBA besides overloaded Chicago.
However if Arenas does not find the dotted line in the bay area the Warriors would have lots of money to spend this summer. But lets not forget about the fact that if Arenas comes to Oakland, Davis will be forgotten in minutes.
OOOOHHHH Barrrrron...Reports today are that the Warriors have offered Elton Brand a max deal to come to the Warriors. Now it seems to me that the Warriors are a little pissed off about what you have done and are now mocking you. So if Brand does sign with the Warriors, Baron enjoy the Clippers without him.
It must feel horrible to not be wanted anymore! Since your decision to leave because the Warriors did not offer you a long-term deal, the Warriors have offer TWO other players max deal and note to Baron, your weren't one of them.
