It didn't take Brett Hull, Les Jackson, and the Dallas Stars long to sign Sean Avery.
Just hours after the team announced they were in negotiations with the forward, Avery put his name on the dotted line.
The Stars and Avery came to an agreement to a four-year, $15.5 million contract, that will keep him in "Big D" through the 2011-2012 season.
In a press release from the Dallas Stars co-General Manager, Brett Hull said, “We are excited about the opportunity to add a player like Sean Avery to our group," and “His ability to play the game with skill and tenacity makes us a better team and is a great complement to the players we have here.”
Avery, a native of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, will be entering into his 7th season in the NHL when he joins Dallas for the 2008-09 campaign. In his previous six seasons, he has amassed 65 goals, 102 assists, and a massive 1067 penalty minutes.

What a bummer, well congrats to the Stars organization. I am sure that Sean will be a great contributer to the team.

Just another reason to hate the Stars--Avery's gonna work out well for ya, but he crosses the sportsmanship line in his role as an agitator...he is effective and can even produce unlike many of them, but I believe more in Vince Lombardi's philosophy that "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game," more than his "winning isn't everything, it's the only thing."

Yeah I know Avery's rep, but I still stand by my argument that what he did to Brodeur wasn't interference. I think he's going to be a force for Dallas, and give the fans here a great show. At the same time, MJ, you're exactly right. Avery is going to be the force that makes every other team in the league have a lot of animosity towards Dallas.
