ThorSport Racing's Johnny Sauter ended the 2009 season on a tear, collecting a win at Vegas, five top fives and eight top-10 finishes over the final 10 races of the 2009 season.
It's made him an early championship favorite for the 2010 season, along with his teammate Matt Crafton, and like his chances with crew chief Joe Shear Jr. on the pit wagon calling the shots.
Sauter will be looking for some vindication at Daytona since last year he led three laps before he was wrecked in the big one that was not of his making.
He has run races at Daytona in all three of NASCAR's top divisions and his best finish was second in the 2004 Nationwide race.
Sauter, Shea and his crew, have been working together over the off season, building more chemistry together in order to give it their all on the track.
He'll be racing chassis No. 16, or "Patches" as it's affectionately known by the team, at Daytona, and it's a pretty stout truck.
It should be wicked fast, since it's one of those awesome Kevin Harvick Inc. Silverados. Sauter looked pretty stout last year, till he was wrecked.
He should qualify well, look for him to run a smart race, stay out of trouble and could very well be challenging for the win or at least a top five finish.
I won't be surprised if we don't see Sauter and his 13 team celebrating in Victory Lane and add his name to the list of legends who've won at the historic track.
