The Charlotte Bobcats are currently in the middle of the best season of their young NBA career.
This is the first year the team has had an NBA All-Star, Gerald Wallace on the team and could become the first season in which the Bobcats make the playoffs.
As a Bobcats fan, I am quite happy with the direction the team is currently moving.
Teams around the NBA are starting to think of the Bobcats as actual competitors and the team is no longer in peril like in the days of Emeka Okafor and Adam Morrison.
If the Bobcats decide to take the NBA Trade Deadline seriously I feel that the team could become a lock to go somewhat far into the NBA Playoffs.
Here are five deals that could greatly help the Bobcats organization this year and in the future.
Cavs Get: C Tyson Chandler, F Derrick Brown
Bobcats Get: C Zydrunas Ilgauskas
These main players are having off years, meaning the trade could work for both teams.
Ilgauskas is in his first year as a back-up to Shaquille O'Neal, making it the first time since the 2002-2003 season that Ilgauskas has not started at center for the Cavs. Ilgauskas is currently netting 7.5 points per game with 5.3 rebounds.
Chandler is having quite a similar season to Ilgauskas, but has suffered many injuries, causing him to play in only 27 games. Chandler has averaged 6.3 points per game along with 6.7 rebounds.
I threw the rookie forward, Derrick Brown into the deal due to Tyson Chandler's injury problems.
Brown would be able to play small or power forward for the Cavs. Brown is currently averaging 4.3 points with just under two rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game.
I think this trade could work out quite well for both teams. Ilgauskas would bring a needed big-man to the Bobcats while Brown would bring a young, versatile forward, and Chandler would most likely play around the same amount as Ilgauskas.
Suns Get: PF Boris Diaw, C Nazr Mohammed
Bobcats Get: PF Amar'e Stoudemire
This trade could work quite well for both the Bobcats and the Suns.
The Bobcats would acquire the five-time All-Star Stoudemire, who is currently averaging 21.2 points with 8.6 rebounds per game.
Stoudemire has said that if he is traded he would like to be moved to a contender. The Bobcats are currently contenders, but with him they would have an even better chance in the playoffs.
The Suns would acquire PF Boris Diaw, who is a former member of the Suns that played quite well for the team as a sixth man until he was traded last year to the Bobcats with Raja Bell and Sean Singletary for Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley and a second-round pick.
Diaw was named the 2005-2006 NBA Seasons' Most Improved Player as a member of the Suns. Diaw currently averages just under 11 points per game with 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
The Suns would also acquire C Nazr Mohammed, who is having one of his best seasons in the NBA. Currently averaging 8.5 points per game along with 5.4 rebounds per game, Mohammed would probably not get much playing time as a member of the Suns.
The Suns are trying to shop for Stoudemire and I feel this would be a good deal for both teams.
Celtics Get: PG DJ Augustin, SF Stephen Graham
Bobcats Get: PF Glen Davis, SG Bill Walker
Rumors have recently surfaced that the Bobcats have been in talks to bring Glen Davis to Charlotte.
The Celtics are most interested in exchanging DJ Augustin for Davis. According to the ESPN NBA Trade Machine, that deal will not be possible unless one other player from each team is added to the deal.
The Celtics would acquire PG DJ Augustin, who is not used very frequently by the Bobcats organization since they already have Acie Law and Raymond Felton. Augustin currently averages just under six points and 2.4 assists per game.
The Celtics also would acquire SF Stephen Graham, who currently averages just under four points and two rebounds per game.
The Bobcats would receive PF Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who has only played in a mere 22 games this season for the Celtics. Davis has averaged just under six points a game along with four rebounds per.
The Bobcats would also receive SG Bill Walker, who to be honest is just in the deal to make it possible. Walker has only played in eight of the Celtics games this season, averaging one point per game.
I personally think that Davis would bring a much needed big-man to the Bobcats while Augustin would bring the Celtics a young point guard that could help Boston.
Kings Get: C Nazr Mohammed, C Desagana Diop
Bobcats Get: C Jason Thompson, PF Kenny Thomas
There was a rumor about a week or so ago that the Bobcats were trying to acquire Thompson. The Kings reportedly wanted Nazr Mohammed and one of the Bobcats other big-men.
In this deal, the Kings would acquire C Nazr Mohammed who has averaged 8.5 points per game so far this season along with 5.4 rebounds per game, this has been Mohammed's best NBA season in quite awhile.
The Kings would also receive C Desagana Diop, who currently averages just above a point per game with 2.5 rebounds.
The Bobcats would receive the aforementioned Jason Thompson, who is in the middle of his breakout NBA season. Thompson is averaging just under 13 points per game along with 8.7 rebounds.
The Bobcats would also acquire Kenny Thomas because of cap room problems in the trade. Thomas has an expiring contract therefore he is the perfect player to be a part of the deal.
Kenny Thomas is a former double-double player as a member of the 76ers during the 2003-2004 NBA season. Thomas now averages 1.6 points per game with 3.3 rebounds.
Thompson would be a great acquisition by the Bobcats. He could greatly help the squad while Mohammed would bring the Kings a center that is having one of his best seasons in his career.
Bulls Get: PF Boris Diaw, PG Raymond Felton
Bobcats Get: PF Tyrus Thomas, PG Kirk Hinrich
Out of all the deals on this list, this is the least likely to happen. Reportedly the Bulls are shopping for Tyrus Thomas and Kirk Hinrich, but I highly doubt both of these guys will be traded to the same team.
The Bulls would receive PF Boris Diaw, who is a similar player to Tyrus Thomas. Diaw is averaging 10.3 points per game this season along with 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
The Bulls would also acquire PG Raymond Felton, who is currently injured. Felton is averaging 12.1 points per game along with 3.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
The Bobcats would receive PF Tyrus Thomas, who the Bulls have been wanted to acquire for quite some time. Thomas is currently averaging 8.8 points per game along with 6.3 rebounds per game.
The Bulls would also acquire PG/SG Kirk Hinrich, who is currently averaging 10.2 points per game along with 3.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
All four players involved in this deal are very similar and could greatly help their new teams.
I hope one of these five trades will happen and can help the Bobcats become even more of a contender than they currently are.
