Adam Gress: Offensive tackle

West Mifflin (PA) West Mifflin

Ht: 6'7"

Wt: 294 pounds

Forty: 5.22 secs

GPA: 2.63

SAT: 910

Class: 2009 (High School)

Adam Gress has just committed to Penn State.  He is a three-star offensive tackle from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.  He is ranked the 59th overall OT in the nation and is a self-proclaimed lifelong Penn State fan.  He says, "I am living the dream."  Gress selected PSU over schools like Michigan, WVU, Rutgers, and Pitt, just to name a few.

Gress is the fifth lineman to commit to PSU this year.  He is also the first player to commit since Curtis Drake committed on June 12.  Penn State had a busy couple weeks in May and June, and hopefully Gress will kick off another busy month.

With the addition of Gress, Penn State finally lands a massive offensive lineman and is continuing to get top tier recruits despite all the questions surrounding Joe Paterno's future.  At 6'7", 294 pounds, Gress will be a great addition to the offensive line.

  1. I'm a life-long PSU fan, alumni, and I hope our future is bright. However, while this guy looks promising, I'm not sure we can make the claim that Nittany nation is "continuing to get top tier recruits." Does a three star commit warrant this comment???? Last time I checked, top tier recruits meant 4 and 5 star prospects - who was the last 5 star player that committed?

    1. The star rating is a little overrated if you ask me. PSU has guys all the time who arn't 4 or 5 stars and step up big time and produce. Look at Paul Posluszny for example, he was only a 3 star coming out of high school. Also look at a guy like Deon Butler, a former walk-on, who has out-produced Derrick Williams during their careers. I'm not saying we should go crazy everytime we get a 3 star recruit but just keep in mind that the rating system is not perfect.

  2. Forget how many stars he has ... look at his academic stats!

2.63 GPA and 910 SAT?!?!? I assume he'll major in Sociology or the like ... but still ...
