I will start off this article by saying when I first saw The Miz on WWE programming, I saw a flash in the pan in the making.
I told anyone who would listen that this kid was a reality star looking for his 15 minutes of fame in front of a bigger audience.
His ego would not allow him to show the humility needed to rise in the ranks of the WWE's elite and he would fizzle out sooner rather than later. The locker room would never accept him and eventually would rib him until he quit.
Having said all those things, I will now say something I do not like to admit ever: I was wrong and I owe The Miz an apology.
Since he donned trunks, got some new music, and put his mic skills to use in an antagonistic way that is pure gold, that is exactly what he has earned.
Gold now comes in two forms for The Miz after this past Monday's Raw. Along with the Big Show, he is now half of the Unified Tag Team Champions. Add that title to his already prestigious United States Championship and you have a breakout star ready to take the next step to superstardom.
If Sheamus can already be a legitimate WWE Champion, then why can we not wrap our heads around The Miz being a contender for that belt?
Well, I can wrap my head around that notion and I, for one, am rooting for this young up and comer to one day hold the WWE Championship over his head.
US Champion, Unified Tag Team Champion. All that adds up to one word that can be used to describe The Miz: AWESOME!
