Defending Donovan McNabb is becoming a full time job. So many people are hoping he leaves town either through trade or retirement. I for one don't feel the same way.

McNabb was drafted by the Eagles in the first round ( 2nd overall ) of the 1999 NFL draft. When his name was announced most Eagles fans booed. The concensus was that Ricky Williams was the better choice. Looking back most would say the Eagles chose correctly.

In the ten years McNabb has been with the Eagles they have played in four confrence championships and one Super Bowl. Although the Eagles lost to the Patriots it was close 24-21.

For all that McNabb has done with the Eagles he deserves atleast the chance to give Philadelphia a Super Bowl title! I mean Dan Marino never won a title and you can't talk football in Miami without his name being mentioned.

I won't try to compare McNabb to Marino that just isn't fair. But I will make a couple of comparisons to try and proove my point.

McNabbs record as the Eagles Quarterback= 82-45-1 I will use one former Eagles and one present Eagle QB and one of the alltime great QB's : Ron Jawarski's Record as an NFL starter= 73-69-1 Micheal Vick is= 38-28-1 Elway= 148-82-1.

McNabb already has 23 4th quarter comebacks Elway has 49 Jaws only had 24 and Vick only 9. McNabb has 216 tds and 100 ints Elway 300 to 226 Jaws 179 to 164 and Vick 72 to 52.

In the Super Bowl McNabb went 30 of 51 for 357 yards and 3 tds 3 ints Jaws was 18 for 38 for 291 yards and 1 td and 3 ints. Both lost their Super Bowl but I give the Edge to McNabb.

Elway on the other hand played in no less then 5 Super Bowls so comparisons are tricky. What I will present are Tds and ints 3 Tds compared to 8 ints.

I am in no way trying to diminish John Elway and what he did in his hall of fame career I just wanted to use him in comparison to McNabb. Trying to show McNabbs place against one of the greatest QBs ever.

As far as Micheal Vick or even Kevin Kolb I don't think Kolb is ready to lead the Eagles ( If he'll ever be ) and Micheal Vick is just not suited for Andy Reids offense.

I want McNabb in Philadelphia until he retires. I'm not ready to watch a .500 or worse team. If the Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl it will be with McNabb or years from now.
