There are a lot of talented running backs in the NFL, but who is the best? Here are the five most electric running backs, WARNING: results may be shocking.

This is a list of the most talented running backs not who had the best season or who will have the best season next year. So who is the most talented? Is it Adrian Peterson or Chris Johnson or maybe someone else?

Chris Johnson

95649055

Chris Johnson has separated himself from the pack with an all around incredible season. He averaged 5.6 a carry and rushed for over 2,000 yards. Since entering the league he has quickly established himself as the quickest, most explosive back in the NFL. Johnson has the best stats and had less to work with than other players so is the clear number one back.

Maurice Jones-Drew

94470556

Despite his size, Jones-Drew has one of the biggest noses for the end-zone in the NFL. He rushed for nearly 1,400 yards and scored 16 times. He has shown that he can perform on a consistent basis. He ranks over the next player because of his ability to get to the "zone"

Steven Jackson

94377407

No back carries his team as much as Steven Jackson does. He was second in the league with over 1,400 yards this season. What makes him so great is that he has achieved all this on an offense with no other weapons, and a struggling line. His 4 touchdowns lowered his rank, but if he ever is on a great team he could be at the top of lists.

Adrian Peterson

96262835

Adrian Peterson is possibly the most exciting running back in the NFL. He is well known for breaking a 60 yard touchdown after getting hit twice behind the line of scrimmage. He only makes 4th because he has the best line in the group as well as the best quarterback and receivers, yet only averages 4.4 yards. He also has a fumbling issue that proved to be costly in the playoffs.

Ray Rice

95832961

Ray Rice makes the list because of his versatility. He can run the ball, but is also a great receiving threat. He ran for over 1,300 yards this season and had an additional 700 yards by air. He had a total of 8 touchdowns during the year.

Runner Up: Ryan Grant

95759600

Although not flashy Ryan Grant is a top tier back in the NFL he was 6th in the league for rushing yards and has three straight years with over 1,000 yards.
