Roger Federer went into the Miami Masters 2005 tournament as a heavy favourite for the title, despite the fact he had never won it before, he lost in the final to Andre Agassi in 2002. Federer duly reached the final with the minimum of fuss where he would face the talented young Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Ironically Nadal had won the pairs only previous match which was also in Miami the year before in straight sets 6-4 6-4. Nadal raced into a 2 sets to love lead and appeared to be on course for a stunning victory against the world number 1. Federer managed to pull the 3rd set back by winning it on a tiebreaker, from that point onwards the Swiss maestro had the momentum as he won the 4th set to level the match at 2 sets all. The world number 1 sealed the match winning it 6-2 in the to clinch an epic triumph and seal his 1st title in Miami.
