1) Right off the bat, yes my prediction was wrong. I predicted 31-21 Colts with Peyton Manning winning the Most Valuable Player after a three touchdown performance. Instead, the New Orleans Saints proved me wrong and one their first Super Bowl championship in their first Super Bowl appearance. After a 31-17 victory, quarterback Drew Brees won the MVP award. Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints, and the Who Dat Nation. The city of New Orleans deserved this championship!

2) I am still in belief that Peyton Manning is the best quarterback in the NFL, and it is a valid argument. With that being said, I think it is about time that Drew Brees gets mentioned in the elite class of current quarterbacks. Brees has been an above averagew quarterback since getting to New Orleans in 2006. In each season as a Saint, Brees has thrown for over 4,300 yards, thrown at least 25 touchdowns, and has had at least ten more touchdown passes then interceptions. In that span, Manning threw more touchdowns but only threw for over 4,300 yards twice. That, and the fact that both Brees and Manning have one Super Bowl ring each is a valid argument to defend Brees as an elite quarterback in the NFL.

3) I was very impressed with Sean Payton last evening. Just like Bill Belichek or Andy Reid, he was willing to make big- time gutsy calls to grab the momentum. His first attempt was a failure, a 4th goal attempt right outside the goal line did not get the job done. The beginning of the second half was a picture perfect call to get the Saints the momentum they needed. An offside kick that caught every fan, and Colts player for that matter off guard. This play lead to a 16 yard touchdown pass from Brees to Pierre Thomas which gave the Saints their first lead of the game.

4) Drew Brees and Tracy Porter were the stars of the Super Bowl last evening. However, there was an unsung hero for the Saints last evening that needs to get his due. Kicker Garrett Hartley has a huge impact on the Saints victory. Hartley scored eleven points for the Saints thanks to three field goals (46, 44, and 47) and two extra points. Thanks to those three field goals, Hartley marked his place in history as the first kicker to nail three field goals of forty or more yards in the Super Bowl. As much as Brees and Porter get mentioned, I believe Hartley deserves a big pat on the back for his efforts last evening.

5) How dreadful were last nights commercials? I actually remember very few of them, that is how awful they have become. I was actually exhausted after shoveling over a foot of snow in four different drive ways from Saturday, and these million dollar commercials were not helping my cause! There was only one memorable commercial that I actually loved and that was the Snickers commercial with Betty White. The other one I liked, however, was before kick off. That was the remake of the Bird- Jordan commercial featuring Dwight Howard and LeBron James with of course a cameo by Larry Bird. Other then that, I will be getting up during commercials just like any other game from now on.
Here are the two commercials if you have not seen them:

6) To add to my exhaustion, seriously, the Who? I understand the respect and love for the Who from those who are older then I am, and I understand the whole Janet Jackson- Nipple incident. However, the NFL is a violent sport, and they are worried about edgy entertainment? The Who was in no way a memorable performance to the new generation of NFL fans who follow a new generation of music. Many youngs fans asked the question "Who?" The Super Bowl is one of the biggest party days of the year, and I feel not a lot of people were getting the party started during The Who's performance. Keep people interested, book Lady Gaga and let her bleed all over herself in some weird lingerie, or book a Wu Tang Clan reunion, or just let Frank Caliendo impersonate various performers. Now these may not be as safe as the Who, but I am sure there are some safe options that may coincide with the times. This was not a vintage Super Bowl on ESPN Classic, so why was the Halftime show that way?

Again, Congrats to New Orleans and the Saints on the Super Bowl Victory! Hopefully you guys a great night last night, especially getting away from the snow from those of us on the East Coast. To continue getting away from the snow, have yourself a Corona or Land Shark Lager to get your mind feel like Summer is right around the corner!
