Lou Lamoriello must have felt the eyes of every New Jersey Devils fan on him today in hopes that this years free agency would turn out better than the previous one.

After losing top center Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski on the blue line in the summer of 2007, the Devils had to come out big in the 2008 Free Agency Frenzy. They did just that.

The ink of Jay Pandolfo and Bryce Salvadors renewed contracts were finally dry when Lamoriello decided to do what nobody thought he would. Re-signing two members of the 1995 Stanley Cup team, Brian Rolston and Bobby Holik.

Drafted 11th overall in the 1991 draft entry by the Devils, Rolston played 6 seasons with the Devils before moving onto Colorado, Boston, and later Minnesota. Rolston will bring a strong utility forward that the Devils seem to have lacked the past season without Gomez who decided to venture to the other side of the Hudson, joining the rival New York Rangers.

Rolston was offered contracts from 17 teams before choosing New Jersey in a four year deal at about $5million/season.

Bobby Holik's ten seasons and two Stanley Cups proved to not be enough for the Atlanta captain as he re-signed a one year contract to play in Newark for the 2008-2008 season.

The Devils also signed contracts with Matt Halischuk and Vladimir Zharkov.
