As the 2010 season is steadily lurking upon us, the Red Sox have announced twenty players who will be invited to Spring Training to try to make a last minute impression on the Red Sox organization. The following have been invited to showcase their skills and try to earn a spot on the roster whilst they have the opportunity.

  • Randor Bierd
  • Fernando Cabrera
  • Edwin Moreno
  • Joe Nelson
  • Brian Shouse
  • Jorge Sosa
  • Angel Sanchez
  • Gil Velasquez
  • Darren McDonald
  • Gustavo Molina
  • Kris Johnson
  • Casey Kelly
  • Alan Mills
  • Kyle Weiland
  • Lars Anderson
  • Yamaico Navarro
  • Zack Daegas
  • Ryan Kalish
  • Che-Hsun Lin
  • Luis Eposito

Who will have a chance to make a true impact? While honestly not many have experience and will likely end up in the minor league system anyways, those who have a chance to prove a lot to the organization are Casey Kelly, Lars Anderson, Brian Shouse, Joe Nelson, Jorge Sosa, and Ryan Kalish, all of which either have some MLB experience or are top prospects ready to show the Sox if A) they are worth the hype and B) if they are closer or further away from reaching the MLB team.

Personally I am excited about Kelly and Anderson, but I am a little bit upset as why Jose Iglesias is left off. I know he is a few years away, but I feel as though it would have been nice to see him work with guys who are currently are in big leagues.

I am also intrigued as to how Anderson will come back after a horrid 2009 campaign. He was hyped up as the next big hitter who would be ready in 2010, but it didn't look like it last season. He too has much to prove.

As a fan of seeing younger talent thrive with the older veterans, I heavily anticipate Spring Training and who will be able to prove something to the Red Sox organization.
