A bad season just got worse for the Seattle Mariners, as they placed Felix Hernandez on the disabled list.

Despite what was been previously reported, Felix is unable to make his next start, tonight, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

No further damage was found.  However, he was still having trouble planting on his bad ankle.  Manager Jim Riggleman said that the move will be retroactive from when he was hurt. It simply made more sense to do the move now, and call somebody up instead of playing a man short until Hernandez is ready to return to action.

Cesar Jiminez was the player who recieved the call to move from AAA Tacoma up to the majors.  Jiminez is a relief pitcher, who is 1-3 and has 5 saves on the year.

Reliever Ryan Rowland-Smith will take the bump in Felix's place.  There is no upper limit on the number of innings RRS will see, but the club is hoping to get between three and five innings of work from him.
