The Lions spanked the Broncos 44-7, which means the Broncs lack the only thing they'll be playing for the rest of the season- pride. Too bad- because on a Sunday when the Packers routed Denver's AFC rival Chiefs 33-22 in what was a close game most of the way, and Adrian Peterson rushed his Vikings past the Chargers 35-17, the Broncos could have gained some ground.
Washington needed to bounce back from their turn as Belichick's guinea pigs, and an overtime squeaker over the Jets keeps them (mathematically) in the NFC East hunt. Elsewhere in that division, Dallas is thrashing Philly at this writing, as if they stole something. The Saints took Jacksonville 41-21- how long before New Orleans cools off again. In the one everyone was waiting for, Tom Brady stayed cool, and Randy Moss caught everything within reach (and some balls that weren't) to lead the Pats over the Colts 24-20. New England has Indy's number again- just as two years ago- the addition of Donte Stallworth and Moss was just what the doctor ordered.
Cleveland improved to 5-3 with a 33-30 OT victory over Seattle. Tennessee beat listless Carolina 20-7, as Vince Young continues to prove leadership is not quantifiable by passing statistics or throwing motion. 4-5 Houston topped Oakland 24-17. Atlanta got by San Francisco 20-16 in another "Who Cares" bowl. Tampa Bay 17 Arizona 10 shows that Jeff Garcia is far from finished. Speaking of finished, if the season ended today, Bret Favre would be NFC MVP.
