For all the Gardy fans in the Yankee Universe and elsewhere, I think you'd agree that he's been dissed this offseason.

We brought in Curtis Granderson.

We brought in Randy Winn.

We're looking throughout the farm system.

In Perry Arnold's "Brett Gardner Daily Update No. 3," I almost laughed when it came to the part where skipper Joe Girardi found him huddled up in a corner, depressed over the signings, because I wouldn't be surprised if that's what he was actually doing.

But Gardy is tough.

He goes all out and is a gritty, hard-nosed player. He does whatever he can to get you a win.

That's what I like.

He isn't the greatest hitter (ask anyone who's seen him play), but he does play good defense. He uses lightning speed to get to the ball (he's got great range, no doubt), makes the grab, and can make a decent, accurate throw.

Of course there's that lightning speed he's got.

This is the best part of having him on your team, because he can change the entire game in a second. All you have to do is work a walk or something for Gardy, and he'll pinch run and just change the entire outlook of the game.

But he's been dissed this offseason.

Still, Joe Girardi loves the kid.

And so do many distraught Yankee fans who are thinking about the starting center fielder role that Gardner has a chance to win (again).

Have no fear.

You can bet Gardner is working hard right now trying his best to win that job. Just because that is the type of player he is.

Of course there are matters that are out of his control.

The front office, for example. They've brought in a few guys, sure. But there must be at least a few guys who like him. In fact Cashman even said in response to the questions raised about the center field job after the signing of Granderson that Gardner was "a more pure center fielder." Sounds good to me.

Of course, Joe Girardi plays a big factor (he's the manager, duh!). As I said, Girardi is a big fan of Gardner, so you better believe Brett's going to get every opportunity to win the job.

And lastly, the fans. Lots of Gardner rooters as I said, and in any organization, the fans will play a part in things like this. If the fans put enough pressure on the organization to do something like bring up a prospect, those front office guys are going to start to crack.

So for all the Brett Gardner fans out there, keep waiting, cross your fingers, and try not to get stressed out about this!

PS-Stress is bad for you!
